Legolas' P.O.V.

"A spoonful of this every 3 hours" the

physician says, handing me a bottle of forest green liquid with a slight purple

tint and an accompanying spoon. "No earlier than 3 hours mind, she's still very

young and her system will react badly if she gets the medication too often. It

should bring down her fever a little and calm her so that she can sleep

peacefully. Feed her light food, salads and soups, she won't be able to stomach

anything more. And keep her hydrated"

I look at my daughter who is now peacefully

asleep again. "Will she be alright, doctor? Will Estel be alright?"

"There is no reason to think any otherwise.

She's just a little ill"

"But elves don't get ill. So it has always

been, so it was set out at the very beginnings of our race"

"That is a very common misconception. Elves

do get ill, but it is never the cause of our deaths. Adults rarely get ill, it

is mostly seen in children when they are most vulnerable and their systems are

still developing. It is nothing to worry yourself about, I have seen many cases

Like Estel's. In fact, I treated you for an identical ailment when you were

about her age"

"But I do not remember having ever been

ill"

"You have lived many years, Legolas, and it

was only a week of your life, most of which you slept through"

"So are you saying she'll be alright?"

"She will feel utterly awful for a few

days, possibly even a couple of weeks, but she will eventually recover fully

and all will be as it was before. It is important that you give her lots of

love and care, she will not understand what is happening to her and she will

need comfort and the strong presence of her father. It is especially important

that you spend time with her, due to her mother being elsewhere as she is"

That's the doctor's delicate way of saying

due to Ana's being missing, but it still hurts to be reminded of it.

"What about Thalion? Will he get this?"

"If you mean is it contagious, then no. It

seems to be a spontaneously occurring sickness, the body's way of test running

the child's young system"

"Thank you doctor"

"I'll check up on her this time tomorrow"

he says, packing up his things and leaving the bedroom. I walk him to the door,

thanking him one last time before closing the door behind him.

"What did he say?" Nemir asks. She's been

minding Thalion and so hasn't heard what the doctor had to say.
