"hah... so that's the reason why..." Eruhaben sighed deeply. Fredo looked like he was going to murder somebody. Ron was gritting his teeth as he listened to Raon's recordings. Deruth, especially, was silent.

"to think... it's something like that..." Fredo shook his head and looked at the old dragon.

"Raon..." Eruhaben called, "call for the other dragons..."

"Alright!"

Another sigh echoed and that belonged to Violan. "I thought it would be perfect... a father who abandoned a child because of some petty reason of her death..."

Deruth remained silent. His face was somewhat guilty and regretful.

"Cale is not expecting anything from the start..." Deruth said.

They are sure that Cale would do everything in his power to save her. However, they are also sure that he's not expecting anything in return.

As Cale clearly stated, no matter what choices are made – he'll gladly accept them no matter how painful they could be.

"Cale would be a good father..." Deruth said. He's aware of the fact that he didn't have any right to tell Cale anything about being a father. Nor does the emperor has the right to tell his daughter to give up on her child.

"for both of us, who both abandoned our children at some point..."Deruth sighed, "no wonder... Cale would choose without asking for any return."

Raon, the black dragon then spoke, "Human..." all older people looked at him, "It's not that bad don't expect anymore..." his meek voice filled their ears, "dad is used to being left behind..."

Whether it be his life as Kim Rok Soo or his life as Cale Henituse – the human and father that Raon knows is someone who has lost everything but was able to live without any problems. Cale just chooses to live with it, with no regrets, because it's the only way for him to continue.

If one would dare to define that, love is unknowing and cruel.

It'll drive a person either to madness or staleness.

And Cale was neither of the two.

Everyone inside the room had fallen into silence. Violan was the first one who stood up and left the room. They knew where she will go but these old men didn't say anything. She's going to Athanasia – and be by her side.

Raon nodded his head and followed the Duchess. The four grandaddies all sigh and went on their ways to solve problems they can to extend some help.

The whole Duchy became gloomy but whenever there's the Lady, they all wear a smile as if they don't know anything.

When Cale came back from the Imperial palace, Athanasia greeted him and he smiled at her.

They would see Cale not leaving her side, holding her hands whenever he can.

This brought pain and sadness to everyone watching them.

The oblivious princess didn't understand why they are looking at her like that.

"Athanasia..." Cale called out.

"yes?"

"I love you."

Again, Cale repeated like a broken recorder.

**

Cale had been searching for every record to help his wife.

He scanned every book he found to save her and their children. But it was for naught.

Should I make a deal with the god of death?
