Making Up Is Hard to Do

Teli POV:

"...Ah, it's you." I glared at him as he slowly turned around in his bed while I marched up the rest of the stairs, furious.

For some reason, once I've gone up the stairs the first time, Lucifer hasn't bothered on trying to stop me anymore.

"So, how did it go? I trust you haven't forgotten what I told you? Have you managed to gain Beelzebub's trust somewhat?" He asked as I ended up just inches away from the gate.

"You know what, in fact I have! We share a room now, you know? And we've had quite a nice chat. Well! It was more one sided since yes, I haven't forgotten what you told me and kept my mouth shut about you. But perhaps I should have had!" And as if my eyes were a shotgun, I pierced him with my stare as I spat, "Belphegor!"

His head went back a bit due to his eyes widening, clearly not expecting this but soon he sighed.

"Aww, so you've figured me out, haven't you? Well, you're no fun at all." My jaw was on the floor by that point. He acted like a child caught for a filthy prank he did but thinks nothing would happen to him!

Marcus Johnson's smug smirk came to my vision for a second and my anger doubled.

"That's right. I'm Belphegor, Avatar of Sloth. And I'm the seventh demon living here in this building." He introduced himself with the same lazy smile he always had, now having a new meaning to it altogether...

The dream I've had before I got here...

"You liar!" I finally snarled at him, slamming my hands against the gate sharply.

"A liar...? Ah, you're referring to how I told you I was a human." He said calmly yet again. Just how much of what he's told me is a lie? "Well, call me a liar as you wish. But let me say this: Any human who allows themselves to be foold by a demon has only themselves to blame. It was your own foolishness and stupidity that led to this."

The nerves-

"So being compassionate means I'm foolish? I was being who I am. A human. Not that you can understand that... But what do I know? I'm just a stupid human." I side glared at him as I backed away from the gate, thinking about leaving when Belphie spoke up again.

"Did Beel actually tell you about me? Well, that alone suggests that he trusts you." The first time he isn't calling Beel by his full name. That sounded... natural. More than when addressed him as Beelzebub.

"He and my other brothers all believe that I was forced to go to the human world as an exchange student, don't they? I'd love to see the looks on their faces if they found out that Lucifer was actually keeping me here in this filthy attic. Heh heh..." He chuckled slightly at the thought for a moment while I found myself stopping to see where this is going.

"But now you know the truth, don't you? I lied to you, sure. But Lucifer did lock me up in here. That's the truth." He said seriously and that ounce of honesty made me start debating, biting my inner cheek before closing my eyes and sighing deeply.

"Why don't you get your brothers to help you? Beel would do anything for you and Satan will do anything to annoy Lucifer. And Mammon, and Asmo and Levi... Any one of them would do just fine lifting the spell up by themselves, right? Then why all this?" I asked, talking about the pacts I've made this far and the planned ones.

"If that was possible, I would've done it long ago." Belphie said, "Think about it. If my brothers learned about my current situation, what do you think they'd do? I'm sure they'd fly into a fit of rage and confront Lucifer about it. And if that happened, it wouldn't be any ordinary family squabble. No, it might very well devolve into a war that would envelop the entire Devildom."
