ELYSIA'S POV
"Ugh..."
I forced myself to get up in the morning on Saturday morning because I have Quidditch practice with the Quidditch captain from my house; Marcus Flint.
Due to nervousness, I just ate two pieces of toast for breakfast and half a glass of orange juice. I rushed to the Quidditch field.
"Phew, I'm not late!" I huffed. I took in a deep breath in and out before looking around the field. Then I saw Captain Flint walking towards me, holding two broomsticks and a bat. "Morning, Captain!"
"Morning," He replied monotonously. "Seems like Wood already took the balls. So, we need to--" He stopped, rolled his eyes and signed, "We have to practice together." He threw a broomstick and a bat at me. "Tch! How come they're not here when they already took the balls?"
Once again I looked around the field next to Flint who was tapping his feet with both his hands on his wrist.
Suddenly, I saw a ball coming at us at a dangerous speed.
I stepped in front of the captain and hit the ball as hard as I could.
"Nice, Potter!" Flint smirked, "McGonagall make the right decision after all!"
"Thanks--"
"Ouch!"
Both of us rushed toward the voice. Wood was struggling to get the ball that I hit into a box.
"Alright there, Wood?" Flint teased, laughing.
"Oh, shut up, Flint!" Wood rolled his eyes.
"Hey, Elysia," Harry waved.
"Hey, Harry." I waved back.
"You took the active Bludger, Wood," Flint scoffed. "I want to train my new player too!"
"Fine. Take the Bludgers," Wood said, getting up from the ground.
"What is a Bludger, Flint?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, you don't know what in the world is Quidditch," He said, sighing. "Let me explain first. Come here," He pulled me towards the box. "Quidditch is easy enough to understand. Each team have 7 players, three Chaser, one Keeper, one Seeker and two Beaters. You and Derrick are our team Beaters."
I nodded as Flint bent down and picked up a bright red ball. "There are three kinds of balls," He tossed the ball towards me. "This one is called the Quaffle. Chasers the Quaffle and try to put it in those through one of that three hoops," Flint pointed at the three hoops across the field. "Ten points if they score. Are you following so far?"
"Chasers pass the Quaffle to each other and put it through hoops to score ten points," I basically repeated what he just said and he nodded. "So, it's like basketball with a total of 6 hoops while riding broomsticks and two more types of balls?"
"Basketball?" Flint raised one of his eyebrows, "Is that a muggle game?" He scoffed.
"Yeah..." I said.
"I'm going to pretend you never say that," He rolled his eyes, "Okay, now, the keeper-"
"That's me!" Wood appeared from behind my shoulder and smiled.
"Shove off, Wood," Flint pushed Wood away, took the Quaffle from me and tossed it towards Wood's face.
Wood caught it, "Uhh, how about no? I got the balls first." He passed back the Quaffle to me. "What's basketball?" He asked curiously.
"You can ask the other Potter there," Flint frowned. Wood mimicked Flint's annoyed face as he walked back to Harry.
Flint rolled his eyes again for the I don't know how many times before he continued, "As I was saying, the Keeper, flies around their team hoops and stops the other team Chasers from scoring."
"Okay!" That one is easy for even a three-year-old to understand!
"Okay, lastly, the Golden Snitch."
Flint opened a little emblem and reveal an empty spot. He groaned, "Oy, Wood!"
Wood turned from Harry who was flying in the air towards Flint, "What?!"
They were so loud! They're just three metres away from each other! Why do they have to yell like they were kilometres apart?
"Where is the bloody Snitch?!" Flint asked."I am using it!"
"Where?!"
"I don't know!"
"What do you mean you don't know? You said you're using it!"
"Idiot! If one can tell where's the Golden Snitch so easily, we don't need a Seeker! Harry's searching for it!" Wood yelled back and pointed to Harry who is looking around the field.
"Tch!" Flint clicked his tongue in annoyance. He turned back to me and pointed at the strapped balls in the box. "These are Bludgers. You will work with this." I nodded. "Now, I'll show you how the Bludgers work. Get on your broom!"
I obeyed and mounted my broomstick. One of the Bludgers quickly rose high once Flint opened the box. The Bludger then pelted towards my direction. My eyes widen then I started to fly away from it.
"Come on, Potter! Hit it!" Easier said than done! What if I stopped and the Bludger killed me when I failed to hit it? "You hit a small Remembrall before! This one is bigger, it's not that hard to see and hit it!"
"OH YEAH? You do it then, Captain!" I snapped.
"Do you want to make it into the team or not?!"
"NEVER SAY I WANT TO! GAH--" Irritated with him, I spun around and swung the bat. Fortunately, I hit it! The Bludgers, of course.
The Bludger flew directly inside the box and shut the box close. Flint opened the box and caught the Bludger before it can escape and locked it up.
"So? How did I do?" I asked, placing my feet on the ground. I don't really care if I make it into the team or not. If I do, good for me, but if don't, I can try next year if I want to.
"You did okay," Flint jumped up from his knees. "With a little more practice, I'm sure you'll be the best Beater you can be for yourself and for the team." He cleaned the grass on his pants before extending his hands towards me, "Welcome to the team, Elysia Potter!"
"Thanks, Captain!"
THIRD PERSON'S POV
"Got it!" Harry shouted, raising his hand; The Golden Snitch in his hand.
"Finally...!" Flint groaned. Both Flint and Elysia had been waiting for Harry to catch the Snitch so Flint can show it to Elysia while she was practising with the Bludgers several times.
"Yeah, yeah. Sorry or whatever," Wood gave him a smile to annoy him. "Here."
Flint snatched the Golden Snitch from Wood's hand and show it to me. "Here, Potter is the Golden Snitch," He began explaining, "This ball alone is worth 150 points in the game."
"Oh, wow," Elysia voiced, "The Seeker only has to catch this?"
"Correct," Flint nodded his head, "But it's not that easy. This ball is so fast and can bearly be seen."
"Noted," She nodded, remembering how hard it was for Harry to catch it just now.
"Oy, Flint!" Wood called. He and Harry already packed the Quaffle and their brooms "We brought them. So you and Elysia can put them back!"
"Huh?! No way!" Flint protested.
"Yes way...!" Wood and Harry sang as they flew away with their broomsticks.
"Gryffindorks!" Flint crossed his arms angrily, making Elysia laughed a little. Still annoyed, Flint put the Golden Snitch back in its place. Both of them took each side of the box and carry it to where the keep all the Quidditch items.
