She stirred the pot, her attention anywhere but on the pot as she stared at a blank spot. She had turned the gas off long ago but too lost in her thoughts, she didn't realise what she was doing.
Too many thoughts clouded her judgement, if Diya wasn't the one behind the incident then who was? Was Diya even worthy of believing? Maybe the wedding invitation was just a scam.
Her chain of thoughts broke when she felt an arm wrapping around her shoulder, making her turn in surprise, the kiss that was aimed at her cheek landed on her lips in a short peck.
"I'm sorry I got late, I'm so thirsty right now." Raghav said, leaving her as he opened the fridge to take out a water bottle, "Snowball is in the hall." He let her know, pouring himself a glass of water.
She nodded absent-mindedly, looking down at the pot only to find it getting colder.
Smacking herself on her forehead, she closed the lid and walked out of the kitchen.
Taking a seat on the couch, she sighed in frustration. She wanted to stop thinking but the constant thoughts kept popping out of nowhere that she could feel an incoming headache.
"Snowball, hush." She heard Raghav scolding the little cat, shooing him away, "What's wrong?" He asked, taking a seat in front of her on the table.
"Nothing." She shook her head.
"I'm pretty sure that it's not 'nothing,' He was chewing off your hair and you didn't notice, you can talk to me." He urged, taking her hand in his.
She looked at the table, his gaze following hers as he picked up the invitation box, leaving her hand with a frown etched on his forehead, reading the name, he left it, immediately turning to her.
"Did she say something? Did something happen? Are-"
"How long have you known me?" She asked.
"I..."
"Please. No lies."
"Almost eight years now." He replied.
Her breath hitched as she looked at him, her face blank as she refused to let any emotion take over her expression. Confusion? Anger? Disbelief? She couldn't pinpoint a single emotion she was feeling at the moment.
"Say something." He urged.
"I can't think of a single word to say that won't hurt you." She shook her head, "Just...just tell me one reason. One reason, why?" She asked, retreating her hands from his hold.
"Haya..."
"Please." She looked away, a cry leaving her mouth in frustration.
She watched him get down on his knees as he sat in front of her, taking a hold of her hands.
"Will you trust me?" He asked.
"I would've put ten accusations on you already if I didn't. Please, stop testing my patience. Eight years is a long time, way too long Raghav and...and this is just..." She trailed off, wanting to hear his side of the story first before saying something that she'd regret later.
