"You what?" Raghav laughed, "You okay?" He asked, touching her forehead with the back of his hand.
"I'm serious."
"You have a bad sense of humour, get up, I'll get you a glass of water." He said, sliding his arm under her thighs to pick her up and shift her to the sofa from his lap but she interrupted yet again.
"I'm not lying."
"Haya..."
"I was...I was going back home, it was late and my friend...she kept on insisting we drink, it was her birthday." She told him.
He paused, waiting for her to start laughing but she didn't, her face looked like she was reliving the moment.
"I didn't want to drink, Adi and I had a pact...we wouldn't drink without each other so I didn't," She said, "but she didn't listen, it was thrilling, it was the first time we were invited to senior's party, she wanted to have enough courage to talk to one of the seniors, she had a huge crush on him...she ended up talking to him but he said some hurtful things to her and she...she just ran away from there..." She trailed off, gulping down the lump in her throat.
"Do you want to talk about it sometime later?" He asked.
"No, no, I'm fine." She shook her head.
"What happened then?"
"I was scared, she was my responsibility and I couldn't find her anywhere, It was dark outside, then...then I heard her voice from a corner," She let out a breath, "I should've called the police, I should've called someone for help before going there."
"Was she...?"
"No, but there was an attempt, she kept asking him to leave her but he was as drunk as she was, I tried to push him but he was much bigger than me, he pushed me and got to her again, she was passing out and I had to be quick, he...he tore her shirt and...I just..."
Raghav moved his hand on her back, "Breathe." He said, picking up the bottle from the table and uncapped it, bringing it to her lips, "Tell me about it later,"
"I had to save her, there was a piece of wood lying in the corner, and I hit his head." She told him, "The wood had a nail sticking out and it pierced through his neck...there was so much blood...so much.." She shook her head.
"You were just trying to save your friend Haya."
"He died...on the spot...he died and it was my mistake, Raghav, I don't know who it was...I don't even remember what he looked like but I feel like everything's catching up to me now." She let out the fear that was eating her from inside.
"We'll tighten the security around you, don't worry okay? We're going to find out who's behind everything." He tried to assure her, "What happened...after?" He asked.
"Zaviyar...I don't know how he got there...he said he'd take care of it once I told him everything and no one talked about it again, I once tried to ask him but he acted like nothing happened, and no one else knows about it...except for you now." She told him.
"Adi?"
"He doesn't know...I was scared he would end our friendship but it was an accident Raghav, I swear on my mummy that I didn't know." She held his hand tightly, "I promise I won't do anything like that again."
