I woke up earlier then the others since I couldn't sleep any longer. I quietly changed into shorts and a tank top then slid on my converses and tied them. I slowly unzipped the tent to climb out and zip it back, I looked around seeing nobody else awake so I made my way down the trail to the beautiful lake view. The sun rise made it more beautiful, I sat down on a rock by the edge of the cliff to stare out towards the other side of the lake. I sat out here for a good while til I heard a twig snap behind me, I glanced back to see Jeffrey dressed and ready to go.
Jeffrey:"You came out here alone?"
Me:"I did. Sorry."Jeffrey walked closer and sat next to me,
Jeffrey:"It's okay, next time wake me and tell me where your going so I don't panic."
Me:"You were worried about me?"I looked with a smile to see him smile back,
Jeffrey:"Always babe, you doing okay?"
Me:"Yea just couldn't sleep in so I came out here."
Jeffrey:"It's an incredible view, hey about yesterday I meant what I said."
Me:"Living together? I've thought about it too, it's a good idea then neither one of us would have to drive to the others house."
Jeffrey:"Good, oh Kayleigh?"
Me:"Yea?"I looked to see he was digging in his pocket to pull out a ring,
Me:"Jeffrey what is that?"
Jeffrey:"It's for you, Kayleigh I love you and I don't want to be without you like ever. It's been on mind for awhile now and we've been together this long, I'm not going anywhere and I'm sure as hell ain't getting any younger, if your willing, will you marry me?"
Me:"Are you serious??!!"
Jeffrey:"You know I don't joke about something serious."
Me:"Yes!"
Jeffrey:"Y-You will?"
Me:"I said yes didn't I?"
Jeffrey:"Fuck yea."I laughed so Jeffrey stood up pulling me to my feet to slide the ring on my finger.
Jeffrey:"Your father knows, while you were packing him and I talked and I told him how I was going to ask you to marry me rather I have his permission or not."
Me:"Oh boy.."
Jeffrey:"He appreciated me after saying that babe so things are good and they'll get even better."
Me:"I'm sure it will."
Jeffrey:"Come on the others should be ready by now."I nodded with a smile as I followed Jeffrey back up the trail, as we stepped out of the trees I saw everyone getting a bag together.
Jake:"Where'd you go Kayleigh?"
Me:"Watched the sun rise over the lake."
Jake:"I missed it! Great view huh?"
Me:"Yea it is."
Jake:"What took you man?"
Jeffrey:"I was busy."
Kate:"With what?"
Me:"Jeffrey asked me to marry him."
Kate:"You finally asked!? Congrats guys!"
Me:"Thank you K- wait you guys knew too?"
Jake:"That's why you saw all of us together before heading to the lake."
Me:"First my dad knew then you guys? Who else knew Jeffrey?"
Jeffrey:"Just them and my parents."
Me:"Sneaky."
Jeffrey:"I have my moments."
Jake:"Alright we have three bags packed that's good enough for the hike, take anything else and it'll take longer to get back."
Me:"Alright let's get going then."
Jake:"That's the spirit, okay follow Josh and I."
Josh:"After awhile we'll stop and eat."With that said all of us followed Jake and Josh up the mountains trail.
We've hiked for almost three hours and was nowhere near to the end, my feet are killing me and my legs feel like jello. Instead of complaining I pushed through, shouldn't be much longer. I glanced at Jeffrey who was already looking at me, he smiled and I smiled back.
Jake:"Ready for a break?"
Me:"A break would be great."Jake laughed and nodded,
Jake:"Alright since we made it to level ground we'll rest here for a bit."
Me:"Finally!"
