It's been a whole week since all of us got home, I haven't spoken to any of them since that night. For the record I'm not mad at any of them just trying to get back to normal, after the two killing sprees I needed to stay away from civilization for awhile and just to get some sleep I've became a heavy drinker. I've been sleeping on my couch for the past few nights, I grabbed the half bottle of whiskey before leaning back to start drinking again. I turned my cell off four days ago so no way of them getting ahold of me unless they decide to show up at my door which they haven't and I'm glad. None of them should see me like this especially Jeffrey, after letting out a small sigh I pressed the bottle to my lips to take a drink when a soft knock appeared on the door. I gave a huff then sat the bottle down to stand up and head to the door, without thinking to see who it was I just opened the door seeing Kurt, Jeffrey's dad.
Kurt:"You look terrible Kayleigh."
Me:"I'm sure.."
Kurt:"Are you drinking yourself?"I crossed my arms knowing he's probably disappointed,
Me:"Please don't tell Jeffrey.."
Kurt:"May I come in?"
Me:"Sure."I moved out of the way letting him in then closed the door,
Kurt:"I won't tell him but you'll have to, he's out in the car waiting. Kayleigh, drinking yourself isn't a path you need to be on, believe me I'm speaking the truth. After I retired I didn't know what to do, all I knew was how to be a cop. I drank everyday just to cope with life, my wife and Jeffrey didn't deserve the way I was but after laying a hand on my wife and kicked Jeffrey's ass for no reason I knew in that moment I had to stop, I'm not telling you what to do since I'm not your father but Jeffrey? That man is worried about you so you should talk to him Kayleigh."
Tears stung my eyes as I nodded,
Me:"You're right and your also wrong, your not my dad by blood but your son and I will eventually be married so you are my dad too."
Kurt:"Yea your right, I'm going to go get him. Kayleigh please take care of yourself, okay?"
Me:"Okay."Kurt gave me a hug then walked out the front door, I sat back down on the couch resting my chin on my hands as I waited. After a few minutes of waiting the door opened but I never looked to see if it was Kurt again or Jeffrey. Familiar bootfalls moved towards me which I knew was Jeffrey this time. He never sat next to me but instead sat in front of me on the coffee table, when his hand touched mine I looked into his eyes. He looked so worried and hurt, what did I do...
Jeffrey:"Are you ignoring me?"
Me:"No, I've been trying to get back to normal I shouldn't have turned my phone off and I should have answered you.. I'm sorry.."
Jeffrey:"I'm just glad to see your okay."
Me:"Not really okay when I've been drinking since we got home.."
Jeffrey:"Kayleigh baby.."
Me:"Go ahead, I know your holding back some anger so please let it out."
Jeffrey:"Anger? I'm not angry Kayleigh I've been worried sick about you. A whole week I haven't heard from you, I thought the worst. Maybe you had moved on or something I don't know."
Me:"Move on? Your kidding right? Why in the world would I move on from you? We've been through a lot to just move on."
Jeffrey:"It feels good to hear that from you, look I get it I'm not mad that you've been drinking just more so upset you kept this from me."
Me:"I know... sorry to disappoint you but I'm not okay and I don't think I'll ever be okay."
Jeffrey:"Yes you will, you and I will get through this together."
Me:"Okay, did your dad leave?"
Jeffrey:"He did, I want you to stay with me for a few days."
Me:"You'll have to drive my car, I'm not fully sober."
Jeffrey:"That's fine, wait here I'll go pack you a bag and we can leave."
Me:"Don't pick anything trampy."Jeffrey stood up and laughed,
Jeffrey:"I'd never do that but if I did it'd be just for me to see."
Me:"Yea sure."
