Don't Look Back

Kill or be Killed

I didn't sleep at all, first Chelsea..who knows which one of us will be next, all I know is I need to get off this mountain before I get myself killed during a panic attack. I noticed Jake was awake so I looked to him,

Me:"How do we get off this mountain without dying?"
Jake:"Only one way, kill them first or be killed."
Me:"Okay we don't have any weapons so how do you suppose we kill them?"
Jake:"I did bring a weapon."

Jeffrey laughed,

Jeffrey:"That's a relief now I don't feel guilty for bringing my gun."
Me:"You have a gun?!"
Jeffrey:"For safety reasons, yes I do."
Jake:"Josh what do you have?"
Josh:"I have a few knives with me."
Jake:"That will work, Kayleigh and Kate I know your scared but this is what we need to do to live. Okay?"
Me:"I can't.."
Jeffrey:"Yes you can, look you girls are strong and you still have us. You have to do this, you want to leave this mountain right?"

We both nodded,

Jeffrey:"Then you have to, it's self defense you can't get in trouble for that. Okay we can't keep the bags that'll give us away so we take the weapons and that's it."
Jake:"We'll move quicker without them anyway so at least make sure to keep your cell on you in case we make it down to the car."
Me:"Okay.."
Jake:"Once we're back up the cliff we'll split up to take out most of them in a less amount of time then staying together."
Jeffrey:"That's the best way, don't worry baby you'll be with me."

With a small huff I slowly stood up then began digging through Josh's bag.

Jeffrey:"What are you looking for?"
Me:"A hair tie I know Chelsea put some in here."
Josh:"Front pocket.."

I gave Josh a soft smile as I reached into the front pocket pulling out two hair ties, I handed one to Kate then pulled my hair into a tight ponytail.

Me:"Okay, my phone is in my pocket."
Josh:"You were closer to Chelsea, she would have wanted you to have this one.."

I looked to see Josh holding up a bowie knife, it was beautiful. The blade was black and the handle was a dark red, I took the knife laying my hand on his shoulder.

Me:"I'm sorry about Chelsea, we'll mourn her as soon as we get off this damn mountain."
Josh:"Thanks.."
Jeffrey:"We can't lose daylight."
Jake:"Right, give Kate the other knife so we can get going."

Josh lifted his hand towards Kate who took the knife. Kate, Jake and Josh heading towards the entrance of the waterfall leaving Jeffrey and I standing there. For the first time he let out a shaky breath causing me to look at him, his eyes showed he was worried but his facial expression? It's like he was trying to find words to say, I laid my hand on his arm which brought a smile to his lips.

Me:"What's on your mind?"
Jeffrey:"You said you passed that exam, how well did you pass?"
Me:"With flying colors, why?"

Jeffrey slowly looked at me, his face said it all. I knew what he was going to say but I never stopped him from speaking.

Jeffrey:"All of us may not make it out of here unharmed. Kayleigh, your our best shot if something happens to one of us but you? You can't stitch up yourself.."
Me:"Hey what happened with us being fine? Look if it comes down to that I'll have no choice but to stitch myself up. Now, we should get going they probably made it back up there already."

He nodded then headed towards the entrance as I followed, both of us looked up to see the other three looking down at us,

Jeffrey:"Get behind me and hold on."
Me:"What?"
Jeffrey:"Your not falling again now do what I said."

Instead of wasting time to argue with him I did what he said, I hopped up wrapping my legs around his waist as I held onto his neck. Honestly I feel like a grown toddler at this point, but hey free piggyback ride, right? When I looked up I saw Jeffrey holding onto the edge as both Jake and Josh grabbed my arms to pull me up.
