Don't Look Back

Hide and Seek part 2

Voices and footsteps came quickly down the hall, I covered my mouth to keep quiet as I stayed completely still in the laundry shute. It only took a few minutes for the voices and footsteps to disappear, I unlocked my phone starting a group chat between the five of us,

"I'm in the laundry shute, what about you guys? They should be near one of you by now."(Kayleigh)
"In the kitchen pantry."(Kate)
"Not far from you babe, I'm in the guest room closet."(Jeffrey)
"Staying quiet, their a few feet from the secret library door I only know about..Jake are you clear?"(Josh)
"Why didn't I think to hide there? I'm stuck in the attic...everyone okay?"(Jake)
"All good here, Kate take off those heels in case you need a new hiding spot."(Kayleigh)
"Shit good idea!"(Kate)
"Guys...they have weapons! What the fuck is going on?!!"(Josh)
"Fuck! Everyone except Josh, make your way to the library...I need to explain something that just smacked me like a brick...if your area isn't safe to move yet just wait it out and move when you can. Josh I'll knock when we're all outside the secret door. Be careful guys.."(Jake)

I knew that fucker was hiding something!! Well... I can't be as mad he more then likely had a repressed memory. I placed my ear against the shute door to listen, not a single sound so I slowly opened the door inching my head out to see nobody in sight. Quietly I climbed out holding my heels in my hand then cautiously made my way towards the library, stopping quickly due to Charlotte rounding the corner ahead of me. Luckily she didn't see me so I continued down the hall but was yanked into a room,

Jeffrey:"It's just me, don't say a word."

I turned to see Jake, Jeffrey and Kate. Jake motioned for Jeffrey and I to get closer so we did. He gave a light knock and a small piece of the wall opened revealing Josh's face, once we were inside the secret room Josh closed the door then had us follow him, it was too dark to see where we could possibly be heading to. A dim light grew closer and closer,

Josh:"Okay we're far enough to not be heard."
Jake:"I want to start off by saying sorry, I just remembered what I couldn't years ago...this isn't a friendly game it's a game of survival.."
Me:"So what your saying is that your family is hunting us down to kill us?"

Jake looked away and never spoke a single word, great so another repeat of the damn mountains?!! I shook my head then took a breath,

Me:"How do we get out of here since the house is on lockdown?"
Jake:"There isn't a way out.."
Me:"There has to be Jake! I'm not dying now after surviving the first time, barely."
Josh:"I may have a solution, wait here."

Josh quickly disappeared, Kate barely looked at Jake so I lowly spoke towards her,

Me:"Don't be hard on him Kate, everyone has repressed memories so it's not intirely his fault, hell it's most likely not his fault at all. Talk to him."
Kate:"Okay.."

I looked to Jeffrey who gave me a reassuring smile,

Josh:"Look, these are the blueprints to the house. There has to be a way out somewhere."

The rest of us gathered around Josh to look over the blueprints when their uncle Daniel's voice appeared,

Daniel:"Leave the pa on, you are excellent hiders. The cameras are still off, I'm thinking about turning them on to find all of you. You'll have ten minutes before they come back on."

All of us looked at each other then began searching for a way out,

Jake:"If the cameras come back on then the house will be off lockdown."
Me:"Are you suggesting we wait?"
Jake:"Fuck no, keep looking if we can't find a way that might be our only option."
Josh:"I think I got it, look we're here right? If we keep heading down this corridor we'll reach the basement doors which aren't on lockdown. We can exit the house and get the hell out of here."
Jeffrey:"Okay let's get moving then."
