GISELLE
I spent hours at the spa, and on the way home, I got a call from Daniella, asking if I was free. She needed to run some errands, and a family member had tasked her with watching over the child of one of the daughters-in-law.
I agreed to help because I had nothing to do, and I'd much rather babysit a kid than spend another day sleeping or watching movies.
Nicholas was unaware of the sudden change in plans, so I quickly sent him a text. I didn't know when he'd see the text, but there were chances he was in a meeting or busy. Heavens knew what he did at work, anyway.
I'd just shoved my phone into my purse when my phone buzzed from an incoming text.
Nicholas: I thought you said you deleted my number.
Shit. I could just imagine him sitting in his office, his eyes filled with amusement; he never laughed. After minutes of my finger hovering over the keyboard, I typed out a reply.
Giselle: I lied.
Nicholas: The same way you lied about finding a gun in the house?
Now I was even more embarrassed. My face heated, and he wasn't even in the car with him. Another text followed seconds later.
Nicholas: I don't keep guns lying around in the house.
Giselle: Can we talk about something else? I'm sure you have some work to get done.
Nicholas: Sure. Have fun at Daniella's.
"Are you two sexting each other?" Evander asked from the driver's seat.
I'd gotten lost in my own world, that I'd forgotten I was in a car with someone else. My phone flew out of my hand, landing on the floor face-first. Luckily, the screen wasn't broken when I picked it up.
"Who do you think I'm talking to?"
"Unless there's another guy that has you blushing over a text, it has to be the boss man. Is there another guy?"
"And if there was?"
"I'd assist him in chopping the bastard's dick off," he replied smoothly with a grin. I had a feeling he would enjoy doing that, too.
I chortled. "You're insane."
"So, there's no guy?" He asked, his eyes meeting mine through the rearview mirror.
"There is a guy. We were supposed to have dinner together, but I have plans with my husband," I replied with a sweet smile.
Evander nodded. "Hm."
I was curious to know if he'd tell Nicholas, so I spent the entire car ride messing around on my phone and smiling. If he was going to tattle to his boss, I had to give him something to report back.

"Did you have fun today?" Nicholas asked, barging into the bathroom unannounced with his dress shirt in hand. He came to stand beside me in front of the mirror, placing his shirt on the counter. "I knew you'd look good in this dress."
I arrived at the club to meet Nicholas, and he had a dress laying in wait for me already. A spaghetti-strapped gold dress that stopped mid-thigh, showing the length of my legs, paired with gold-colored Louboutins. It made me appear taller than I was; I had the heels to thank for that. He had the right size, too.
"Thank you. If you consider being used as a chew toy by a two-year-old to be fun, then yeah, I had fun." I replaced my mascara wand back into the tube before turning to look up at him. "I'm just kidding. Kiara is cute."
