album release day.

"are you sure we should get those? if i'm the only one going to eat them-"
"lorraine.. i will order them, jutty wants some too" hayden cuts me off as he puts the phone up to his ear. we're ordering take out for the album release.

we've decided to listen to the album in the studio with everyone and just have a small party with the band. it wasn't long before hayden walks back into the main room and sits back down. tobias sits quietly with his leg bumping up and down with nerves.

chris and jutty open another beer as cosmo and i play around with his bass. per sits quietly on the small couch and talks with chris and jutty while everyone waits together.

i play the last note and hand the bass back to cosmo "and i win" i laugh and he sighs "it was the one part! that's not fair you know the song like the back of your hand" he continues on as i walk over and sit next to chris on the floor "and that's just one more reason why i'm perfect" i joke but then hold my hand up

"i'm kidding that was a joke- i'm far from it" i sip my beer and per smiles down at the bottle in his hands "per thinks otherwise" jutty whispers and i nudge him. tobias gets up and walks out of the studio with a nervous breath leaving him. i take the beer bottle down from my lips and look around at everyone with wide eyes

"is he gonna make it?" hayden speaks up and per shrugs his shoulders "i'm- yeah i don't know" he says through a sigh "he wasn't like this last album" chris points out "i'll be back" i hand per my beer and walk outside to talk to tobias. he leans up against the wall smoking a cigarette "may i?" i ask for a cigarette and he takes one from the carton, along with handing me his lighter

"i know that everything has been stressful and hectic but-" i take a puff of the cigarette "you gotta stop taking it out on us... we've been here for each other through everything, you cant get rid of us" i tell him and he looks over to me "i'm sorry i've been a dick... especially to you i just- there's no excuse for it" he shakes his head in disappointment.

i take a few more puffs from my cigarette and look over to him "it's okay..." i tell him and he looks at me "come here" he says through a small laugh. i return the embrace and we walk back inside together. i grab my beer from the table and sit next to per criss cross on the couch.

hayden walks to the door and comes back with the chinese takeout bags "now everybody eat so you don't get shit faced okay?" cosmo points to the food on the small table and jutty starts taking everything out. we all sit around, laughing, conversing, and eating until we all get a text on our phones from our manager that reads:

"album drops in 10. congratulations."

we all put our to go boxes back up and stare at the text on our screens "should we do the record or cassette?" jutty asks and everyone looks around at each other "let's do the record" per speaks up as jutty puts the vinyl on the turntable "i'm excited to see what the tracklist will be... i never did look at it" i tell per and he smiles "i think you'll like it" hayden speaks up "yeah you'll love it" cosmo says as he's laying on his back staring up at the ceiling.

a smile forms on my lips as i check the livestream on youtube of the album premiere, everyone was so excited for it. "we could get a head start..." chris suggests "then let's do it" tobias says taking a seat. jutty puts the needle down on the record and the album starts with the instrumental i wrote.

a gasp comes from my mouth and i turn my head to tobias "i told you it sounded like an album opener" he shrugs with his hands out. i put a hand over my mouth to hide my smile a bit. i feel per's hand lay on my back, as i turn back to look at him his smile matches mine. the track laces in with the song kaisarion.

tobias' opening high note comes through on the speakers and we all give him a few cheers and praises "the bass sounds killer" hayden compliments cosmo. i nod my head along to the beat during the breakdown part "i gotta admit that part was really cool" i say through a laugh and everyone agrees.

next to come through the speakers was the opening keyboard part to spillways "through benediction you try to rid your mind through malediction.." i sing to myself. per rests his head back on the couch with a smile still on his face as he listens to the song. his hand rests on my lower back still.

a little bit later we get to the first interlude titles dominion "this would fit perfect in the shining movie" per speaks up and hayden agrees with him. the song twenties follows up after, then an unfamiliar track starts to play. a faint girls laugh plays before the intro starts.

chris rests his hand on his chin trying to hide a faint smile. per looks at me confused as i sit back a bit, still puzzled about it.
"when the summer dies... severing the ties, i'm with you always... always" the lyrics ring out and i gasp "are you kidding...?" i ask as my voice hightens and my eyes start to water. per looks at me worried, i rest my head on his shoulder

"it's my song..." i whisper to him as chris and tobias watch my reactions. the chorus kicks in and my heart flutters. cosmo and hayden look at me with smiles. i lace my hand with per's and rest it in my lap as the song continues to play. whispers start in the back of the song and I knit my eyebrows

"who is that?" i ask and jutty suddenly goes a smile on his face "the laugh in the beginning was yours that i got in a video one time and then cosmo got sophie to do the whispers" jutty tells me and i look to cosmo "you're serious?" i ask with my voice almost at a whisper and cosmo nods his head.

the song ends and i get you to hug everyone. tobias and i hug last "thank you.." i whisper and he rubs my back before pulling away "it's the least i could do.." i take a deep breath as i sit back down next to per "i didn't expect that holy shit" i mumble and everyone laughs a bit "did you know?" i ask per and he shakes his head no

"that was my song!" i say happily as i put my hand back in his and shake it excitedly. a few more songs pass until we get to the last one titled respite on the spitalfields. "i'm so glad we picked this as the closing song" hayden says as he rubs his eyes tiredly "what was the other pick going to be again?" jutty asks "it was going to be call me little sunshine but i'm glad we went with this- we couldn't do that because of lorraine's ego problems-" hayden stops short as i flip him off.

the last few seconds of the song play until it goes quiet all around. tobias has a satisfied look on his face "i think... that... we fucking killed it" he says with a laugh. jutty gets everyone another beer "we should play it again- or should we check the live stream?" cosmo asks but grabs his phone already going to youtube.

we go quiet waiting for him to say something "they love it" he smiles while looking down at his phone screen. i feel my shoulders relax as i hear those words "so like... what do we do after this?" jutty jokes around with a laugh earning laughs from us too "we write another album-"

"oh fuck no absolutely not" i cut per off and we laugh together "let's hope we can tour for this album before putting out another one" tobias tells us. everyone talks and hangs out for a little while longer until we all split up and go home for the night.
