Day Of Rest
I felt blades of grass against my arms. Then before I knew it I felt two fluff balls sitting on my lap. I opened my eyes to see the big blue sky and white fluffy clouds hiding behind the giant oak tree I was sitting under.
I sat up and looked around. I was in my rose garden. I had planted every rose bush in that garden from pink, yellow, red, white, orange, speckled, swirl, and, as a gift from the queen her self a Juliet Rose bush which produced blue, purple, and black roses.
I looked down to see James and Henry sitting on my light green dress that reaches my feet. "Why hello there." I said. It was so cute! They looked like they where trying to talk to me, but couldn't figure it out.
"M'lady!" I turned my head to see Fin or as I call him Finny, the manors gardener. "Good morning Finny! Would you like to join me?" I said giving him a smile.
Fin Tucker was twenty five, he had black hair and hazel eyes that where hard to tell if they where blue or green. He was wearing a tan button up shirt with the top two buttons undone. He wore brown pants with brown suspenders. "It would a pleasure to accompany you m'lady." He said with a clumsy bow, and we both laughed.
Fin was a jokester and new just how to make me laugh. He always kept me company in the manor when Jocelyn and Bently where busy. He worked here ever since he was twelve. Finny would hangout with me when ever he got the chance. However he had no idea of my job. I told him along with every one who works at the manor except Bently that I have a rich uncle who lets me live at the manor.
"What seems to be the matter m'lady you seem to have a lot on your mind." He said while looking at me with worry, and sitting next to me. "It's just my uncle he needs some help with work and it is really stressful." I said covering my face with my hands and then putting them down to pick up James and Henry. I had become an expert lier over the years.
"I can't imagine how stressful it must be. On the bright side you can take breaks and literally smell the roses!" He said giggling. I giggled and said, "That is so true!" I put down James and Henry, and they climbed into the big oak tree above us. We talked for hours.
"Well I should get back to work m'lady. Good Day!" said Finny as he gave me a sweet smile and a slight bow. "Good bye Finny, have a good rest of your day!" He then walked away.
As Fin left I saw Jocelyn walking towards me. "So what was that about?" She asked. "Me and Fin where just talking for a bit." I said while smiling at her. She sat across from me and said, "Any idea on who stole the pink emerald?" She looked at me curiously for my answer. "Is it the mysterious Dale from the antique shop or the clock shop we have not even been too in person?"
She said trying to get the answer out of me knowing I already new the answer to it. Which she was right. How ever no performer preforms without a show. "I guess you will need to wait like every one else for tomorrow at the ball I will be hosting to find out." I said giving her a hug to apologize to my sad friend who was hoping for and answer.
We spent the rest of the day just me and Jocelyn relaxing, and preparing for tomorrow nights ball. The plan was we would go to the ball I was hosting, and one of the place guards that the Queen was sending would read off a paper exposing who it was and how me the anonymous detective figured it out. We've done this before at balls that were being held in the areas our cases took place. However this time was different. I invited a few people who live in Nottingham to the ball. After all when you go out why not go out with a bang!
