Kai's POV

"And this is your new home"
These words echoed through my head as I stood in front of this man who's name was supposedly Ace. I feel like I've heard that name before but I don't know where

I stood there dumbfounded as I tried to comprehend what he had said. This isn't my home, nor will it ever be. Why would it be? Based on what I've seen so far, the house is huge, luxurious, and probably expensive. I would never be able to live in such a place

"I think you are mistaken. I live in rundown house in the woods. I would never be able to live in a place like this."

He just sat there smiling at me, acting like he knew something I didn't. Suddenly he grasped my hand in his and pulled me closer to his chest

"Well you are my soon to be mate. So it seems only far if you live with me right?"

I was shocked. How was I his 'soon to be mate'? This whole morning has not made any sense. First I woke up basically cuddling a stranger, then hid in a giant room from said stranger. And now he is claiming that I am gonna be his mate

The man "Ace" seemed to noticed my confusion because he took it upon himself to explain

"Yesterday during The Run you were attacked by another alpha. He broke your leg and was about to mark you."

My memories started to return to me as he explained. Just hearing that I was gonna be marked made a shiver run down my spine. I especially can't imagine getting marked by the same person who did these things Ace explained to me

"I saw all of this happen so I decided to defend you. After I scared him off I saw that you were injured pretty badly so I brought you here"

My memories from yesterday were still pretty hazy because I vaguely remember all the things he explained happening. But I couldn't shake the feeling that he was leaving out

"That still doesn't explain why you called me your 'soon to be mate'."

He chuckled quietly then leaned close to my ear and whispered

"I called you that because it's true. I caught you which means your mine now"

I felt the color drain from my face as a stood there with a unreadable expression on my face. Suddenly he bursted out laughing and leaned away from my face

"I'm just kidding, I would never force you to be my mate. If you want to reject me then that's fine" he gave me the most beautiful smile I've ever seen

Now I was really confused. I've never met an alpha that wasn't a totally dickhead. There's no way this is real, if this was real then he would have pinned me to his bed and forcefully claimed me this morning with no hesitation

I looked at him dumbfounded

"Are you serious" I asked

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"

"It's just that I've never met an alpha like you. Who would willingly give up a possible mate?"

He looked at me, a hint of disgust in his eyes

"I'm not like all those other alphas. Unlike them I actually give a shit about an omega's feelings. I would never do something to you that you don't want."

I looked into his eyes, searching for anything that could show that he was lying. But all I met with a serious expression with a hint of love swirling within it. He was telling the true

"But can I ask you to do one thing for me"

"What would that be"

"Will you give me the opportunity to formal court you"
