Bordeaux, France
"Daniel! Those tables aren't going to serve themselves, se dépêcher!"
"Oui! Bâtard ennuyeux," the teen mutters before heading to his first table, "bonne soirée et bienvenue à Lauza, que puis-je commencer pour vous?"
The red head writes down each order, careful not to miss a single thing before taking it to the kitchen. "Commande pour la table seize!"
"Entendu!"
Daniel smiles slightly before exiting the kitchen, taking a deep breath when he stops next to the bar. His hand presses to his side and he inhales sharply before shaking his head.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," he assures the bartender before taking a deep breath, "just tired."
"That guy you were seeing...he hasn't come around in a while..."
"Mon Dieu! What are you going to ask me next? When we'll be getting married?" He asks, chuckling softly. "Melinda, he was my boyfriend...but now-"
"He really liked you," Melinda says before sighing softly, "but I understand."
Daniel sighs softly before shaking his head. "I...I sort of blocked him," he admits, "his family was just too different from mine."
"And that's a bad thing?"
"I don't know, maybe. We're just...we come from different people, different families...different lifestyles," he murmurs, "he was sweet...but I didn't fit in with his family."
"Did you even let yourself fit in with them?" Melinda asks as Daniel looks at his friend in surprise. "What was wrong with them? Were they part of some cult?"
Daniel chuckles softly before biting his lip. "No, but it came close," he tells her, smiling wider as he's reminded of a certain brown-haired male, "either way, we're not speaking. I need to find someone more...ordinaire."
"I've never met anyone who defines normal. You find your own normal," Melinda murmurs, "so, you broke up with him and-"
"I didn't exactly break it off..."
"You ghosted him...Daniel, that's quite cold. You owe him an explanation."
Daniel sighs before shaking his head. "He doesn't need one. He's probably moved on to someone else."
"Bonsoir! À demain!" Daniel shouts, waving to his friends as they walk away. They return the sentiment, making the teen smile as he turns away from the building. He starts to head down the sidewalk, inhaling softly as he crosses his arms over his chest.
A pair of golden eyes observes the red head before he takes a step out of the shadows. Daniel freezes and swallows thickly before a familiar face appears under the large lamp post. He studies the older male before swallowing thickly.
"What are you-"
"Doing here?" Adrian asks softly, his tired eyes studying the human. "I came to tell you I'm leaving the country. I don't know for how long and I don't know if I'll...be coming back," he murmurs, "I just wanted to let you know, as a courtesy. My brother tells me you don't even deserve that, but I feel you do."
Daniel swallows dryly before sighing quietly. "Is that all you came here for?"
"No. I came to see if you were healing alright."
