My Beloved

The outside world is so cruel,

with the hidey holes and coyotes.

I can smell the death around me,

no creature can possibly be safe.

I see their bodies lying on the ground,

and let out a scream that tears my soul.

Then I feel your soft and silky fur,

which makes all the loss seem better.

When I kiss you on the head, I try to

get the straw-like fur out of my mouth.

My beloved, please don't leave like the others did.

My beloved, please stay with me when night ends.

My beloved, please comfort me in my times of need.
