Chapter XL

Maya began seizing as the lights began flashing red, her guard quickly reacted and swam to her quickly.

"I need some help!" He yelled as he cushioned her head, blood came from her mouth as it began to cloud the water near her.

"She's having a seizure!"

A doctor and a couple of nurses swam in as the doctor pulled out a syringe, extracting an orange liquid and injecting her arm. Everyone backed away as Maya's body stopped jolting.

"What happened to her?" Her personal guard asked as the doctor sighed.

"Maya is fighting the medicine. She's trying to wake up from the slumber we put her in." The doctor explained as the nurses placed a venturi mask over her face so the effects of the medicine can be more intense. They connected the mask to the medicine as the doctor turned it on and raised the flow. The medicine traveled down the tube and to the mask.

Maya began seizing again as they turned to her. This time before they could reach her, the water around her began swirling around her and turning into various colors as her body absorbed the colors. The water stopped swirling as Maya's eyes fluttered as she adjusted to the light in the room. Maya sat up as she removed the mask from her face as she looked around confused, almost in a daze.

"Jim. Where are you?" Maya asked no one in particular as she tried to stand up but soon realized she was underwater. She tried swimming but failed as she began sinking to the bottom.

"My queen!" Her guard exclaimed as he swam to her and helped her back onto the bed.

"What happened? How long have I been out?" Maya asked as he exhaled.

"You've been in a comatose state for about 4 months." The doctor explained as her expression remained blank.

Everything began to grow quiet as she looked at her hands and realized something was on her face.

"The mirror.... get it for me." Maya said as he grabbed one of her hand mirrors and handed it to her. She raised the mirror and gently held her face.

She released the mirror as she touched her face. She looked different, a little older but she was still the same Maya. Maya thought of Jim and her family that she left. A wave of magic emitted from her as the ground that surrounded them cracked.

"I need to get back! Like right now!" Maya exclaimed as she tried swimming again but her tail was too injured.

"My queen please stop! You're still not healed fully yet!" The nurses held onto her as the doctor explained.

"It's been 4 human years! I must see my fiance at once!"

"But my quee-"

"ENOUGH!" Maya yelled as she had activated her siren ability, her eyes glowed a bright sea foam green as her eyes cracked. Everyone that could hear her stopped in their track as Maya closed her eyes and shook her head, stopping everyone's trance. They held their head in slight pain as Maya tried to swim forward. She felt a sharp pain in her tail as she sat down on the bed instead.

"Take me to my room to change and we will leave after. That is an order." Maya ordered as a group of guards brought a shell throne as the nurses helped her on and they proceeded as ordered.

"Would you like me to notify The Trollhunters?"

"No. I want to surprise them."
