Chapter XXIII

~My Family.~

This night would have been peaceful but unfortunately it wasn't this time.

Maya had been standing on top of a driving car that Blinky was driving. Jim was in the passenger seat, while Toby and Claire were on top of Aaarrrggghhh. They chased after Senor Uhl's gnome infested truck, Maya made sure no harm came to the truck.

As they quickly finished this mission, Maya jumped off the car and walked to Jim. The gnomes that were previously driven the truck, were caught and Maya leaned on the truck.

"I'll go and take these back." Blinky said to them as he drove off and Aaarrrggghhh followed behind the car.

As they were about to return Senor Uhl's truck back to his home, a blue and red light lit up the area, they turned around slowly.

"Hands were I can see them!" The officer exclaimed as Maya rolled her eyes and barely rose them. Unlike Jim, Toby and Claire who looked as if they were reaching towards the sky.

"Looks like your little prank is gonna get you serving a little time. You wanna press charges?" The cop asked Uhl.

"Hmm. No, I have something far worse planned for them." He paused and smiled menacingly.

"Saturday detention."

~Saturday Morning~

Maya arrived on her skateboard to the school. She saw Claire and walked up to her, she kicked her skateboard up and caught it.

"Morning Maya."

"Don't talk to me this early." Maya responded coldly.

"I know why you don't like me....and don't worry I won't do anything to threaten your relationship with Jim." Claire attempted to try to speak to her. Maya looked at the grass and quickly gave her a cold stare.

"I don't care, because I know you won't take him from me. Unless you would want to kill me for him." Maya glared at her as Claire backed up slightly.

"That's not what I meant!"

Maya exhaled and crossed her arms. After a brief moment of silence, Maya turned to Claire.

"Listen closely because I'm only going to say this once. I know I might overreact or it seems like I don't like you, but I'm just very protective of what's mine." Maya explained as she looked away. Claire realized that this was progress into their friendship.

"T-That makes sense." Claire laughed nervously as she was surprise at this act of kindness from Maya. Even if it was just a few sentences, this means that they could be friends.

Barbara's car came to a stop by the sidewalk in front of the school.

"I don't get it. You were pulling a prank to impress Maya?" Barbara asked in a confused and disappointed tone.

" I don't think Senor Uhl's truck would impress anyone, Dr. L." Toby attempted to make a joke.

"You know, girls like Maya, don't always fall for the bad boys, Jim. Sometimes, they appreciate chivalry. And if I know Maya any better she prefers a good boy rather than bad ones." Barbara said annoyed.

"You can say that again Dr. L." Toby laughed remembering the slap Maya planted on Jim's face.

"Uh, thanks for the dating advice, Mom." Jim responded before opening the door and leaving.
