Ever since Verena Hightower was born her father, the hand of the king Otto Hightower loathed her, wanted more than nothing to be rid of her but because of duty and family, she lives...
When Verena was born she ripped her mother apart leaving Otto Hightower a widow. His distaste for her began the minute she took her first breath. He picked her up and cradled her in his arms.
Tears slowly fell down his face as he looked at his wife before his face fell blank and he ordered a house maid to take her away. Before the housemaid took her away she asked,
"What is the child's name? My lord."
With her eyes pointing at the ground and back at the child. Otto Hightower vowed that night that he would never love that little girl.
"Her name is Verena Hightower. Keep her out of my sight."
And then he turned around and quickly walked away going to let his other children know what had happened on this cursed day.

As Verena grew up she felt no warmth and love except from Rhaenyra and Alicent her sister. Although her sister still slightly resented her deep down.
The only person who had ever really never hurt her was Daemon Targaryen.
From the moment he laid his eyes on her he knew. Maybe because he could see behind her smile was tears and sorrow. She learnt High Valyrian for him and he taught her sword-fighting.
They were comfort in a war zone. Although Daemon Targaryen would soon ruin her.
