Kiara and I walked along the dock as we met Pope at the end. The boat bobbed against the water; swaying calmly.
My long locs hung down my back. The heat from the sun beating against my brown skin as I adjust my tank top that hung off my shoulders.
"Code Red." Pope calls out as we carefully step onto the boat. "What the hell is going on?" Kiara snapped joining us. "Okay, JJ and John B conked out in the marsh. They need a tow." Pope explained.
"Uh, okay, well, what does that have to do with us?" Kiara points between me and herself. "We need you for mechanical." Pope shrugs. Kiara roles her eyes. "Mechanical, wow." She sighs sarcastically.
"I don't know anything about mechanics, Pope." I explain to the Pogue. "We'll then we'll teach you. Gotta learn some things if you're gonna live in the Outer Banks." Pope explains, pulling off further down the marsh.
The ride was about half an hour as we approached the Alp. There was no other boats in site as we droves through the rough waters.
"Can't you guys do anything without me?" Kiara asked. We finally approach JJ and John B's boat. Pope parks close enough for the two of us to hop on. Kiara quickly jumps onto the boat walking furthers inside.
I grab the edge of the boat, but almost fall into the water. "Pope, what the hell?" I asked. He begins to pull the boat away. "What the hell are you doing? Let me onto the boat?" I say.
"Be, we got a plan." Pope says. A loud splash pulls my attention back to the bigger boat. JJ and John B hop into the water. They swim over to Pope and I climbing onto our boat.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked concerned. "Where's Kiara?" I look back to see Kiara and Sarah. I cover my hands with my face. "Oh my, God. Please tell me you didn't plan this?" I sighed, annoyed.
"Are you serious!" Sarah calls out. "Get your asses back here!" Kiara yells. "Phoebe, did you know about this?" Kiara asked.
"What! No!" I called out. We can't. Not until you two figure it out." John B smiles proudly at his plan. "I will kill every single one of you!" Kiara says. "You can't just leave!" Sarah pleads.
"There's food in the cabin and JJ rolled a blunt." Pope explains. "Hydroponic!" JJ shouts. Pope begins to drive the boat away further from the two girls leaving them in the middle of the marsh alone.
"Great plan, right." JJ smirks. I slap the back of his head. "You three are idiots!" I say. "You better hope this works." I tell them. "It's will, Be." John B says, crossing his arms. If this doesn't work I will literally cut y'all asses off and feed it to the fish." I threaten.
"Mama's mad." JJ mumbles under his breath. "It's not funny JJ." I sigh, sitting next to Pope as we pull up to the Château.
The four of us hop onto the dock. "Well in the meantime. We can relax and wait for them to sort out their priorities." Pope says, resting his arm around my neck. We walk into the house.
This is my first time really seeing where John B lives. His floors are covered in trash. Cook Out bags litter the kitchen table; along with beer bottles and dishes.
"Do y'all ever clean?" I asked annoyed. "Nope." John B says. "This place is a dump. Least you could do is throw out the trash and clean the dishes." I explain.
"If you're so worried about it, Be; then you do it." JJ smirks. I narrow my eyes at the boy glaring at him. "I'm not cleaning up after anyone." I state.
"Well then, problem solve." JJ says, shrugging his shoulders.
"Let's just focus on the problem at hand." Pope announces. "The gold. We need to use some sort of bungee rope that can carry one of us down the well." He explains.
"I'm not going down there. I'll help with everything else but getting inside a dark hole." I state. "You don't have to go down there, Be." John B says. "I'll go." He smirks. I clap my hands together. "Great. Let's just hope Kiara and Sarah make up." I smile.
"Girl, trust me.They will." JJ moves over to me putting his hands on my shoulders. "I bet your ass their smoking a joint laughing at the whole thing." JJ smirks.
I roll my eyes. "You guys just want this two work because you have a crush on my cousin." I point to both Pope and JJ.
Pope immediately shakes his head. "That's not true. We're just best friends. I want to see her happy." He says, denying the truth.
My phone suddenly buzzes in my back pocket. I check the notification. Three message from Rafe pop up on my screen.

"Hey."
"Are you doing anything today?"
"Do you want to hang out?"

I smile at my phone. He's consistent. I thought. "What are smiling at?" John B suddenly says from behind. He peaks over my shoulder; trying to read my text. I quickly move my phone from his line of view.
"Nothing." I lied, stepping away from the Pogue. "I'm going to use the bathroom real quick." I tell the boys before walking down the hall to the bathroom and slipping myself inside, locking the door behind me.
I turn the faucet on; letting the water run for background noise. I pull my phone out; dialing Rafe number. After one ring he picks up.
"Miss me, Carrera?" I almost hear his smile through the phone. I roll my eyes. "First of all, it's Carrera-Devereux." I snap. "And second of all, you texted me, asking to hang out." I explain to the Kook.
"But you're the one who called. So that makes you the more eager one." Rafe states. "What do you want Rafe?" I asked, sitting on the toilet seat. "I'm hiding from the Pogues and I only can pretend that I'm using the bathroom for so long." I say.
"Do you want to go to a party?" Rafe asked. "What party?" I questioned. "Just a college party. A buddy of mine is turning 21. That means easy access to alcohol." He says over the phone.
"Sure, what time?" I asked. "How about now?" He says. I scoff. "I can't just leave my friends. And besides I'm not even wearing party clothes." I tell him.
"Just make something up. And besides you don't really need clothes. Because this is a pool party. I'll drop you off at your house and you can pick up your swimsuit and we'll head over." He explains.
I silently rack my brain for an excuse not to go anymore. But the sound of Rafe Cameron's voice could be very convincing. Especially when I know he has that stupid smirk on his face.
"Fine. Pick me up like a block away from John B's." I tell him before ending the call.
I turn the faucet off before leaving the bathroom. "I should probably get back home." I begin. "I have a shift at The Wreck in an hour and I want to take a shower before." I lie.
"I can take you home." John B offers. I shake my head. "Oh no. That's not necessary. Anna's coming to pick me up in a few." I lie again.
"Oh, okay." I guess we'll see you tomorrow morning." Pope says. I nod. "Yeah, I'll see you boys tomorrow." I smile politely before leaving the house and walking off the porch.
I quickly jog down the street waiting for Rafe. After a few minutes, I begin to hear the sound of him motorbike.
"No effing way." I immediately yell, shaking my head. Rafe cuts the engine off before pulling his helmet off.
"Why didn't you just bring your car?" I asked crossing my arms across my chest. "I'm not bring my car out to the cut." Rafe says, like it's the most obvious reason in the world.
"I'm not getting on that." I state. "Oh, my god, Be. Stop being stubborn and just get on the bike." He demands.
"No." I say. "Be." He warns. He hops off the bike. His body begins to tower over mine once again as he glares at me sharply. "Get on the bike." He demands again. I lift my chin up. "No."
"Fine." He smirks. "I guess you wouldn't mind me going over to John AB's and telling the Pogues that you lied to them and you're actually going to a party with me." He says. He binds to walk towards the Château. I quickly grab his arm.
"Wait no, stop." I cry out trying to stop him from going any further.
Rafe stops, raising his left brow. "Get on the bike." He smiles. Knowing that he won this argument. "You don't have a helmet for me." I stated.
"Just wear mine." Rafe says. "Then what will you wear?" I asked. "You could hurt yourself." I explain. "Be, that's insulted. I have never came close to hurting myself on this bike." Rafe says.
"Didn't a few days Barry burned your skin against the hot motor?" I remind him. "Be, just get on the damn bike!" Rafe sighs annoyed. "Fine." I giggle, before hopping on the bike. Rafe takes the helmet and pushes it down in my head.
"It's a little big." My voice is muffled from the helmet. "You'll live." Rafe sighs. He hops on the bike; sitting in front of me.
My body immediately tenses up as I feel his body heat radiate onto my chest. "Come on, grab on." Rafe says. I slowly lean forward; wrapping my arms around his waist as I hold onto him for dear life. My head rest against his back as I close my eyes.
Rafe quickly starts the engine, pulling off down the street back to Figure 8.
I breathed in his scent once again smelling his signature cologne on his clothes mixed in with a little weed.
"You comfortable, Carrera?" Rafe calls out as he takes a sharp turn. "Yeah, I'm comfortable. This is fun." I smile against his back tightening my grip around his waist.
"Getting pretty handsy there, aren't ya'?" Rafe says. "Calm down, Cameron. I'm just making sure I don't flip over." I tell the Kook. "Whatever you say." Rafe says, finally pulling up to my street.
The motorbike suddenly comes to a stop. "I'll be quick." I say, pulling the helmet off. I hop off the bike before running into my house.
Mike and Anna are no where in sight which saves me from explaining to them that I'm going to a party.
I quickly run upstairs to my room. I slam the door shut and immediately begin to look for my favorite bikini. I dig through my draws pulling out all of my summer clothes.
I finally find the swim suit I'm looking for. It's multi colored with beads handing that wrap around the waist.
I pull my clothes off slipping the swim suit on before throwing a summer dress over the attire. I rush back down stairs out off the door.
"You look cute." Rafe comments as I hop back onto the bike; putting the helmet back on.
"Just go." I demand. Rafe revs the engine before pulling off.
