a few weeks later

ouma and i were now very close, as i came to his house or he came to mine almost every day, including on the weekends. it was great.

i really wanted to tell him i liked him... i was pretty sure we both had feelings for each other, but confessing to someone is easier said than done.

today was special though. i was gonna be brave and tell my crush that i loved him. it was scary to do, but i was tired of hiding my feelings.

keebo and kaede had already known that i liked ouma, so it wasn't much of a surprise to either of them, and they didn't say much about it.

i was originally going to tell him in the classroom, but i felt as if this deserved a more... fitting... location. so i waited until after school to text him.

shuichi: hey kokichi, wanna meet up?
kokichi: sure. at my place?
shuichi: no actually..
shuichi: do you wanna go to the pond at the end of town?
kokichi: sure but what's the special occasion?
shuichi: nothing, just thought it would be fun :D
kokichi: oh ok :) can we meet up in a few minutes?
shuichi: yes, see you there

luckily, we both lived near the end of town, so we were able to walk there. i decided to bike, though; i wanted to arrive before the other boy to prepare.

the water was very clear and it was dark. there were a lot of koi fish. i had brought some bread with me.. enough for both kokichi and i.. to feed them.

i breathed in and out, trying to calm myself before the shorter male got here. clearing my throat, i whispered what i wanted to say.

'hey, kokichi, i.... um... i love you. no, i shouldn't be so forward about it off the bat. uh, hey, your ass looks- no.... um, i just wanted to tell you....'

this went on for a while before kokichi finally arrived. 'sorry,' he apologised, walking up to me out of breath. 'i couldn't find my socks.'

i smiled lightly, handing him a piece of the bread i had gotten. 'ah, you even got us bread to feed them. thanks.' he took it and tossed it in the water.

'no problem.' i looked into his purple eyes as he stared out into the water. 'so i have to tell you something.' i suddenly said.

kokichi tilted his head. 'um.. well how do i say it?....' the words wouldn't come out of my mouth. 'i think you're really cool and-....' i sighed.

i pushed him towards me and grabbed his face, kissing him. i could feel the other boy smiling through the kiss.. so this was alright?

he returns my feelings?

after a few seconds, i backed away. 'i like you.' i established, although that was obvious by now. 'i love you too.' ah. love- that's even better!

i smiled widely and hugged him; he hugged me back. for the next hour, we threw bread into the water for the fish below us whilst talking.

it was the best feeling ever.
