|| Chapter Thirty-Four ||
Her head was forced back from the grip he had against her flesh and the rope. With the jerk, her eyes flared back into the chocolate hues of her abuser.
It wasn't to challenge him, it was to let him know that next time they see each other—whether it be in the afterworld or in another situation—it was on sight.
"Mr. Smithson, Mr. Geronimo, Mr. Renfield, Ms. Kit, you've been found guilty for your crimes."
"Just be quiet and it'll be quick." Mateo whispered in the young girl's ear; careful not to touch her more than he was already forced to.
In some way, he wanted to respect her body despite being the reason she was about to meet her maker.
He was careful to speak lowly as to not disrupt his uncle, who continued to order the townspeople. By giving these people their false justice, it showed safety in the Zeros.
Kit and her people would be a prime example of how safe they should feel under Escorpion's people, if they ever had any doubts.
"You can stop this." (Y/N) whispered back to him, keeping her voice at the same level.
Mateo thought it was fucked up to hurt a woman, but examples needed to be made and if his uncle wished it to be her, she's already a dead woman walking.
"Mr. Burr, it's all yours." Escorpion walked away from (Y/N) and Mateo's side, giving his nephew a look before going in the middle of the four victims.
With another single look from him, Mateo released the back of (Y/N)'s neck, who could already feel the burn from the rope's rough material. He took a step behind his blood, gun still in his grasp.
His eyes never left (Y/N)'s body, knowing a mind like hers never lasted in a period of time like this. She was too good and in a world like this, only the bad survived.
"Dear God, please watch over these poor souls, whose deviant and washed paths have let them to this unfortunate conclusion." Mayor Burr half-assed their eulogy, losing interest.
"We can only hope, oh Lord, that they don't cause as much trouble in Hell as they have in this world."
'If Hell is where I'm going, I'll be sure to be even more deviant.' (Y/N) thought, rolling her eyes at the ridiculous verse Tyler preached.
In the eyes of his people, it was empathy they loved in their mayor as he spoke for the humans that sought out nothing but sin.
If any of them thought the four should not be put down, they kept it within their soul, locked into their conscious.
Maybe all of them believed in this; maybe they truly thought what was about to be done, was needed.
"And God, please get the word out that if anybody steals any of my drugs, they're in for a long nap." Escorpion added, earning a look from his nephew; which he only shrugged the look off.
As the three that weren't in her ring of misfits continued back and forth, (Y/N) continued to attempt at wiggling out of her restraints that her arms were currently stuck in, behind her back.
She never stopped fighting for her life until her name was called out to the man beside her, her death partner.
Her head turned as much as the rope would allow, wanting to look at the only person who's eyes kept shining throughout this whole thing. He's tried everything to get out of this, not even breaking his thumb would work.
His knife was way down in his boot and he wouldn't be able to move fast enough without alerting Mateo or Escorpion.
He was at peace with his soul, knowing his life was coming to a stop but knowing (Y/N) wouldn't survive this? That's the chaos that stirred his demons.
