| Chapter Two |

"Come here." 10K spoke quickly with beads of sweat falling from his forehead due to the heat.

When (Y/N) turned around to ask him where he wanted her body to be, he moved in front of her and hastily grabbed her hips--careful of the baby in between their tired bodies--and lifted her on top of the dusty hood.

This way, she could get an advantage point away from the dead while being cautious of the newborn. He grunted from exhaustion built up in his arms from his slingshot, but still made sure her butt was completely on top before excusing himself back into battle.

Butterflies flew around in the stomach and chest of the teenager as her face blushed from the contact, not being able to deny the fact he was the cause of them. They had grown closer since Serena's death and the theft (Y/N) had committed.

For 10K.

Shaking her head to wish the butterflies into the air, she focused on who really mattered. She finished her ascend to the roof of the car, watching her teammates do what they had to do to survive.

She crossed her legs over the other as she sat down, trying to make herself as small as she could possibly appear so no Zs would attempt to drag her down if they even got that close.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

After taking down all of the Lincoln Zs, Warren helped me get off of the car with the baby still in my grasp and onto the asphalt ground. Getting on top of the car wasn't a bad idea, I do say so myself.

It was easy for Vasquez and 10K to protect, and I stayed out of everyone's way with the child, safely. I swung my hips softly to sooth the whimpering baby. I had a hand securing Lulu from beneath, patting a familiar rhythm.

"Hush, hush." I hummed softly, hearing her wails begin to cool off as well as her body temperature, since she was causing such a fuss earlier.

In my peripheral vision, I watched as a worried father began to rush towards me with the 'step-mom' right behind him. Unlike all the fairytales, she didn't even try to fake a worried expression.

"Adorable, isn't she?" His voice questioned me, standing directly in front of us.

I knew he was on edge by the way his hands gripped his hips, leaning all of his weight onto one leg. Still, he didn't shove me to hand over his seed. It's not like I'm going to kill an innocent child.

"I'm surprise she is, being as she's made from half of your DNA." I answered, my eyes never leaving the body of the light-blue skinned child that truly was half of everything Murphy.

"I'll take her now."

Before the zombie king could even graze us, I twisted my body to the opposing side. Cassandra went to take a step forward, but Murphy extended his arm out for her to stay back.

"I want to hold her longer."

Seeing as the world is mostly damaged and debris littered every corner, it was nice to hold something that the zombies had yet to scare or humans had yet to impure. She was a little taste of what the world should have been: innocent, natural and special.

"Five more minutes."

"You don't even like babies, so why give me a time limit?" I commented, patting the same rhythm I was once shown.

"I said I didn't like that baby, but she's daddy's precious little angel, aren't you?" Murphy wiggled his finger in front of his daughter's face, taking a step forward.
