|| Chapter 37 ||
3rd POV
The three parties were separated by a good amount of distance between them, having their own situations and thoughts play out the way destiny planned.
They say separation of the group is never a good thing during the zombie apocalypse, and that will always be true at some point or another when the divided are meant to be together.
Especially when mischievous runs in the blood of the only survivor of the zombie virus, who is currently walking rampant in the woods with no means of boundary.
When Warren sounded the car's obnoxious horn, she expected all her teammates to regroup back to Point A; from the oldest to the youngest.
Not half of them, not two-thirds of them, and not just the oldest ones; all of them were suppose to join the rest.
"Let's roll! Come on, Murphy!" Doc happily dropped the dark bark he was about to crunch on when he heard the echo of their car's horn.
The only horn that should be going off, anyway. Completely absorbed, Doc began to head back in the direction they had left not too long ago.
Doc spoke along the whole way back to Warren, not really saying much that Murphy could respond to or needed Murphy to respond back. He only assumed his partner was pouting about the whole situation; from having to be babysat all the time to the lost of his daughter.
He, unknowingly, passed by a squatted down (Y/N), who was about 10-feet away with her back turned to the first person to take their exit. Upon hearing the echo as well, she knew she had stuffed her pockets and hands full of berries for everyone to at least have a little something as fuel in their stomachs.
In her head, she reasoned it was better than the 'edible' bark she knew Doc was going to bring back. She also was excited to see 10K give her a proud look. It may not be a smile, but the lessened tension between his eyebrows was always a welcoming expression she valued.
She stood up too late to to see the last glance of Doc's shirt, and twisted around as Doc's footsteps were no longer audible to her ears. She walked towards the direction she had came from, wanting to at least scare Murphy since she hadn't heard any rush of feet pass by her yet.
Little did she know, she underestimated the sound of Doc's feet pressing against the ground. When she turned her head to the left, she noticed the shirt color of a familiar ally.
They're ally's because they're both headed towards the same goal, that might or might not be wanted anymore.
'I don't think that's the direction of the car.' She spoke in her head, unsure of her sense of direction now.
Nevertheless, she quietly made her way towards Murphy, because when she looked in the direction of where she thought the vehicle was at, she didn't see a glimpse of Doc.
She didn't see Doc, because by the time her eyes looked that way, his back was being covered by a thick tree.
When her eyes focused back on Murphy, she noticed the lack of proximity.
'I can't lose him.' (Y/N) knew she'd rather be lost in the woods with someone than be lost in the woods without someone; even if the company would be the legend himself.
