i laughed with rain as we ran through the halls of the ministry away from dew.

we had pranked dew by pouring water over his head, which would prevent him from using his fire abilities on us as we ran.

"you dicks!" dew yelled as rain and i turned a corner, rain pulling me into a room and closing the door quickly yet quietly.

i grinned, putting my finger to my mouth as rain and i pressed our ears to the door as dew turned down the hallway we were in.

our faces were extremely close as we smiled happily at each other, giggling as we heard dew spew many curses as he stomped down the hall angrily.

after we were sure dew was out of ear shot, rain and i burst out laughing, leaning against each other so we wouldn't fall.

though, after a moment, rain stumbled, making us topple onto a couch.

i just laughed even harder, rain laughing along as he wrapped his arms around me from behind, keeping us laid down.

after a few minutes, rain and i had calmed down slightly, small smiles still on our faces as i laid on rain's chest, my eyes slightly closed as rain's soft breathing calmed me down.

a soft sigh escaped me as rain's tail wrapped around my leg while he subconsciously buried his face into my hair.

"i'm really happy aether brought you back, y'know.." rain said softly. "really?" i hummed, looking up at him. rain smiled slightly and nodded. "i think you're the best thing to happen to the ministry since dew ate soap." rain chuckled. my jaw dropped. "dew ate soap?!" i exclaimed. rain laughed, nodding. "dew says he didn't but swiss swears he saw it happen." rain grinned. "jesus christ." i sighed, getting a snort from rain.

rain tightened his arms around me, sighing softly as he leaned his head on mine.

"i don't think anyone has ever told me why all the ghouls wear masks.." i mumbled, my eyes lidded as relaxation took over me.

"would you like to know?" rain asked, drifting his thumb up and down my waist.

"if you're comfortable." i whispered. rain smiled, kissing the side of my head.

"we mainly use them to hide the base of our horns seeing as they can get a bit gore-y whenever the horn sheath sheds. we keep them on year round so we don't just randomly wear masks for a month in the year, y'know?" rain explained, his voice soft as the spade of his tail gently rose up and down in a relaxed manner.

"are you shedding now?" i asked, looking over. rain hummed a no, "just finished about two months ago."

"can.. can you show me your face?" i asked. "you can say no." i added on quickly. rain smiled, one of his fangs showing in the slight part of his lips. "if you want to see, i'd be happy to take of my mask." rain mumbled, making intense eye contact with me. "please.." i whispered, tilting my head slightly. "of course." rain grinned, kissing my forehead and sitting up as he unwrapped his tail from around my leg.

rain easily picked me up and turned me around so i was facing him, one of his feet tucked under his leg as he began fiddling with the part of his mask under his chin.

"ready?" rain asked, holding the sides of the helmet as he smiled softly. i nodded, a slight giddiness erupting in my stomach. rain's smile got bigger as he slowly took his mask off, being careful of his horns.

as rain placed his mask in his lap, we made eye contact again.

my jaw dropped, rain grinning at me.

i was left completely speechless as i stared at the most beautiful man- ghoul?? being. the most beautiful being i had ever seen in my life.

the first thing i noticed was rain's hair. it just reached his shoulders, looking like it had been cut recently. it was dark brown and parted to the side of his head, though it wasn't much of a part and more of a 'i pushed my hair back and it fell to the side.'

next was rain's eyes and his smile. his smile looked so genuine as he stared at me, the outer corners of his eyes slightly crinkled as he tilted his head.

my heart stuttered along with my words as i tried to get something out.

"what do you think?" rain teased lightly. my mouth just opened and closed for a few moments. i quickly gave up on my words and decided to use actions instead.

i leaned closer, closing our already small space as i gently placed my hand on his cheek, looking around his face.

rain's smile softened as he leaned into my hand his eyes closing for a moment before opening again.

i was still absolutely gobsmacked, my eyes still tracing every single feature i could find.

rain's blue eyes seemed to glow slightly as he leaned closer to me, his eyes flickering all around face.

"i reacted the same way when i first saw you.." rain whispered. my stomach erupted with butterflies as my jaw dropped, rain slightly smirking as he moved even closer to me, barely tilting his head, his eyes slightly lidded and looking downward to keep eye contact with me.

all was quiet for a moment as my thumb gently brushed along rain's cheekbone.
the silence was broken by a shaky exhale escaping me.

rain paused... then moved even closer.. both of our eyes closed as rain pressed his lips to mine.

i inhaled sharply, moving my other hand to the other side of rain's face, holding him close to me as the kiss deepened.

rain hummed, moving his hand to my waist and pulling my body close to his, the feeling of his tail quickly wrapping around my calf making sparks shoot throughout my body.

after a few moments, rain pulled away knowing i had to breathe. i was sure he could hold his breath longer but didn't want to suffocate me.

i panted slightly, my eyes barely opening and making eye contact with rain's piercing blue ones.

i swallowed harshly, sudden anxiety rushing through me.

"that wasn't an 'she think's i'm attractive so i'm going to take advantage of that' kiss, was it?" i asked, knowing the nervousness in my voice could be heard. rain chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of my mouth before leaning his forehead on mine.

"i'd never. that was a 'i've liked you for a long time now and figured an intimate moment like this was the best time to prove it' kiss." rain whispered. a tug pulled at my heart as butterflies erupted in my stomach, my eyes closing because i was smiling so hard.
