Chapter 44 - Dog'dopus

Fidgeting with my hands, I bite my lip as I wait for my queue to go out on stage.. It's the official unveiling of Dog'dopus.. and my new organization that Tony made under my name..(Sneaky bastard) and decides to tell me about it minutes before I walk on stage.. God. I feel like fucking Steve jobs unveiling the goddamn Iphone... why did he insist on doing this at the Stark tech expo? And why the hell did I agree??? Am I just begging for social anxiety??

"Now, I would like to take a bit of a detour from the usual stuff.." Tony's voice snaps me out of my anxiety spiral. Looking out into the stage I see Tony smiling at the crowd as he snaps his fingers. A large banner falls down to the ground behind him.. Depicting a black silhouette of Dog'dopus. "Here she is to unveil the 'Save The World' foundation! My friend, Coworker and honorary daughter.. The Summoner.. Liza Brigg's!!" Tony claps his hands as he steps to the side away from the mic, beckoning me to walk out. The daughter part makes my heart leap in my chest causing me to smile.

Taking a deep breath to calm myself. Proc nudges his horn against my side in reassurance. I nod to him and take my first step. Proc and Bjorg by my side follow me as I walk up to the mic. The crowd goes wild the moment the spotlight hits me. I smile meekly as all the cameras focus on my face projecting it on the jumbo trons.

I look back to the side stage, seeing Bucky and Loki giving me thumbs up. Turning my head back to the mic I take a deep breath. "Hello everyone, thank you all for coming here today.. I apologise for interrupting the normal progression of this event.. But I have something very important I would like to talk about.."

I take a moment and lock my eyes down onto the floor. My heart pounding in my chest. "..The sorry state of our planet. The vast amount of micro plastics and invasive species ruining our delicate eco systems... For far too long we have sat idly by while we pollute our planet.. And let non native species kill off and destroy entire ecosystems.. I'm here today to introduce a solution to the world.. I would like you all to meet him." Smiling wide I look back to the side of the stage.. Nodding my head, I give him his queue. Dog'dopus trots out onto the stage, the tentacles on his face flopping around with each step.

Sitting down right in front of me, all of the cameras focus on him. "This here is Dog'dopus. He has the ability to filter thousands of gallons of water in seconds. Returning it to it's natural state.. He collects microplastics in his gills which he disposes of in a facility of my design.." Video footage of Dog'dopus opening his mouth in the ocean and cleaning up an oil spill plays behind me. Black water enters his mouth as clear water jets pour from his siphons on his neck.

"Once on land, he analyzes the area and surveys the terrain. If he identifies a non native species, he culls it. Adding the animals scent to his memory, he can then actively hunt any animals of the same species. Once dead he 'eats' the corpse. Turning it into fertilizer for the local plant life..." The video swaps to Dog'dopus hunting down pythons in the swamps of Florida. Running back to the camera with a large in its mouth. It's tentacle tail wagging happily.  "Now.. some are probably wondering.. Why I don't just release them around the globe? Well.. I can't. It could be seen as an act of war.. So I sought out the United Nations and pitched them my idea.... They shot it down.. Dog'dopus can't be allowed off American soil unless you all at home call your governors and tell them that the world needs this.. If we don't clean up our planet.. It will die... It's only a matter of time.. Thank you all for your time." Dog'dopus stands up and bows down beside me before we walk off stage.
