The Teacher

Chapter 5: Lunch

I slowly go through my classes like nothing, like I'm on autopilot. It just doesn't seem real that Jake is my teacher, how does that even happen?

The bell rings for lunch and I stand up and head to the bathroom, Elizabeth meets me there before we walk to the cafeteria together.

She walks up to me right on time, and says to me

"So how are you gonna get cute teachers attention?"

I look at her and smile "From what I'm seeing I still have it, he just hasn't taken the bait yet."

She looks at me confused "Bait?"

I roll my eyes "Duhh, I'm using my sexiness and charm."

She chuckles, "Well Goodluck there Mel."

I look at her and say seriously "Look no one can know about this, I'm serious."

She puts her hands on my shoulders and looks at me in the eye "Like I said girl, Scouts honor. Now, let's go eat I'm starving."

I laugh, "Okay, let's go."

We walk arm in arm to the cafeteria first day of school is always pizza, so that's what I get and Elizabeth and I walk to our usual table and sit down.

A couple kids from our friend group sit with us as well, Cody and Miles.

Cody sits across from me and Miles from Elizabeth.

Cody looks at me as I sip my drink "So when are you finally gonna say yes to a date?"

I roll my eyes and scoff, "Cody I told you I'm not interested."

He smiles a half smile "I doubt that."

I snicker, "Don't be so sure you have me, you don't."

Cody smiles, "I'll get you. Just wait."

I over hear some giggling from Elizabeth, Miles told her a joke. Admittedly it wasn't that funny, but she's been crushing on Miles for years. Then I hear her say "What?" As I snap back to see what's up.

She looks at Miles stunned "What?"

"Would you like to go out with me?"

My eyes dart the conversation and my ears perk up.

She looks at him and slowly a smile plays on her lips "Oh my God, yes!"

He smiles a charming smile at her. "How's Saturday sound?"

She smiles back and says, "Saturday sounds perfect."

Then we eat and chat until the bell rings for next class Calculus, at least next class is with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth walks up to me and says "Can you believe it!? I've been waiting for that for forever!!"

I smile "I'm happy for you Liz!"

"Well my day has been made. Ready for Calculus?"

I slowly walk beside her not saying a word.

"Hey you good?"

Her voice breaks me out of my thoughts "Huh? Oh, yeah I'm good. Just thinking."

"About?"

I wonder when Mr. Hilton's free class is, we pass by his class as we walk towards math, and he's sitting in his classroom all alone. I guess it's now.

I look at her "Uh, nothing. I'll meet you in class."

She looks at me confused and just shrugs her shoulders and walks off.

As for me? I make my way to Mr. Hilton. I haven't succeeded yet.
