Chapter 9: The Text

I get to my second class which happens to be history, ugh, history. Miss. Grizwald is nice, but to chipper about history.

I can't stop thinking about Jake. I go ahead and text him so he has my number

Mel: Hey Jakey! Wanted to make sure you have my number kisses!

Now I just sit and wait for a reply while I try not to die of boredom in history. I watch the clock tick by, as I wait for a reply. Then finally I feel my phone vibrate.

Jake: I'm going to presume this is Melinda?

I chuckle to myself then reply

Mel: Yeah, it is, haha.
Jake: Ah I figured lol.
Mel: Yeah, so how did you wanna do this?

I wait for a response, but it's taking longer then anticipated. Probably busy with his class I think to myself.

Finally my phone vibrates again

Jake: Well, wanna go out to dinner? Some place away from everyone?
Mel: So out of town?
Jake: Yeah, you interested?
Mel: Of course I am!
Jake: Okay, meet me outside the school at 6. I'll pick you up around the side away from cameras and I'll drop you off at your car after.
Mel: sounds like a plan!

After that I couldn't not smile the whole rest of the school day. The bell rang and we all file out of class. Lizzie meets me after and noticed my smile.

"Ooooh I see a smile!! What happened?!"

I can't hold back my smile as I say "I got a date!"

"Oh yay! So he's not ending things?"

"Doesn't seem that way." I say as I smile proudly.

"Well I hope it goes well!"

I smile a genuine smile "Thank you Lizzie."

We continue on with our school day as normal. At the end of the day I find Lizzie since she's my ride. We go to her car and blast all the cute love songs while we sing terribly at the top of our lungs.

We get back to my place and she drops me off she shouts a snide remark at me as she starts driving off.

"Don't forget some plan B!"

I laugh and flip her off as she drives away laughing.

I walk in the front door and my mom stops me "Hey honey, how was school?"

"Good mom, really good. I'll be going out tonight."

"Where?"

"I have a date."

She cracks a big smile "Oh really? Where is he taking you?"

"I'm not sure, I guess I'll find out."

"Okay well, stay safe I'll be going out with your dad tonight so don't wait up, let me know when you're home and safe."

"I will mom."

I happily go up the steps to my room to figure out what to wear since Jake gave me no hints so I don't know if I should go casual or formal.

I decide I'll text him after a shower. I hop in and get cleaned off all the while thinking of him.
