Chapter 18: "I'm Sorry."

I woke up with an uneasy feeling. I wasn't sure what the feeling was, but it didn't feel good. I waited for Jake to text me because the uneasy feeling was from him. The moaning sound just keeps replaying in my mind and I can't get it out.

I get out of bed and head to the bathroom to get showered and dressed. Even though it's Sunday and I have nothing planned. I decide to text Lizzie and apologize.

Mel: "Hey Liz, I'm sorry, can we talk? I miss my bestfriend."
Liz: "Oh I'm sorry, I'm your bestfriend now?"
Mel: "Cut the sarcasm Liz I mean it I am really sorry."
Liz: "Okay fine. Me too."
Mel: "Can I come over I need a friend right now."
Liz: "Yeah, sure."
Mel: "Okay I'll be there soon."
Liz: "Gotcha."

I get everything I need and walk out the door and start heading to my car when my phone buzzes.

Jake: "Hey, I'm sorry can we talk?"

I took one look and stuck my phone back in my pocket I'll deal with him later. Right now I got to get my bestfriend back, and explain everything with my dad and Jake, and hear everything she's gotta say about her date. I get in my car, and blast music and I keep thinking about Jake.

I keep thinking of the reasons I heard the moans, and I can't come up with anything good. Before I know it I'm pulling into Lizzie's driveway. I turn off my car and get out and walk to the front door. I knock and stand and wait. Finally, the door opens and I'm met with Lizzie's smiling face.

"Hey Ugly." She says smiling.

"Hey." I say leaning in for a hug we hold each other in a tight embrace.

We finally release and she looks at me and says "We did it."

I look at her confused "Who did what?"

"Miles and I had sex."

"OH MY GOSH! How was it?!"

"Well... Not amazing, but it was nice. Definitely not what I expected."

"Well the first time is normally like that." I say chuckling "I promise it gets better." And she smiles.

"So what's going on with Jake? Or is it Mr. Hilton?"

"Well before I get to that there's something else I gotta say first."

I explain everything going on with my dad while she looks at me with her jaw dropped.

"Oh my god, Mel." She says as she hugs me. "Come on let's go to my room."

I try not to cry again while we walk up to her room, she shuts the door and I walk over to her bed and sit down. She comes over and sits beside me and says "I hope everything goes well with your dad."

"Me too."

She claps her hands together. "Well, let's move on to a happier subject, now Jake."

I look at her with a fallen face and she immediately picked up on it. "Oh no, what happened?"

So I explain everything from Friday spending the night, to the fight, to going to his house and hearing the moans.

"Oh wow Melinda I'm sorry."

"Yeah, I just don't know what to think now at this point."

"Well..." She starts "First you should talk to him and see what it was about."

"I know. I got a text from him I just haven't answered yet."

"You should meet up with him Mel. Today would be better so you know I'd hate to see you two figure things out at school in front of everyone."

I give her a look, "Like we'd do that in front of everyone."

She looks down "Oh, well, true."

"Yeah."

"So text him."

I sigh, and pull out my phone.

  Mel: "I'm sorry too, and yeah we should talk."
  Jake: "Okay, great. Meet me at noon? My place.
Mel: "Fine."

I look at Liz "We're meeting at noon."

She smiles "Good, I'm here if it's bad."

"Thanks."

After talking for hours I decide to leave to go meet Jake, I'm nervous about what he's gonna say, about what happened. It worries me. I walk down Lizzie's driveway and grab my car door handle with a shaky hand.

I climb in and rest my head on the steering wheel. "What I have I gotten myself into?" I say to myself out loud. Then I back out of her driveway. I'm completely spaced out with memories of Jake as I drive to his place. Good memories just playing like a movie in my head.

I pull up to his house and take a breath before I get out of the car. I need a minute to compose myself. Before long I step out, and slowly make my way to the door.

I lift my hand to knock and wait. Next thing I know the door opens and his face just makes my stomach do a million summersaults he looks right into my eyes.

"Hey Mel, would you like to come in?"
