I wake up to the blasting sound if my alarm clock alerting me to wake for school. I slam my hand down on it to turn it to snooze. I'll take any reason to stay home. I reluctantly roll out of bed and lazily walk to the bathroom.

I use the bathroom and brush my teeth and hair. I do a light brush of make up and walk to my room. I get my clothes picked for the day which today is a sweatpants and sweatshirt kind of day, and a messy cute bun.

I go downstairs and make a bowl of cereal and wait for my mom to come down before I leave. I get on my phone and respond to Jake.

Mel: "You should have thought about that before screwing another woman."

I hear the THUNK THUNK THUNK! Of the steps as someone come down the steps. My mom walks down and pours coffee. It seems like all she does is drink coffee, go to work, and visit my dad in the hospital.

I finish my cereal and walk over to her as I put my bowl in the sink. I hung her from behind and say "No matter what mom, you have me, always."

She smiles, "I know sweetie. I love you."

"I love you too." I say with a smile.

I pour a travel mug of coffee, and kiss my mom on the cheek and head off to school. I walk out to my car, and blast music on the way to school. I'm day dreaming about Jake as I drive while still paying attention of course.

He knew how to make me laugh, and smile, I really loved him. I pull into the parking lot and walk into the building.

I make my way to my locker, and gather my books for the day. Then wait by the door to Mr. Hilton's class for Liz. I start tapping my foot as Jake walks up and unlocks his class door. He gave me a glance and said "Sound awfully impatient."

I give a disgusted sigh and say "Waiting for Liz."

He nods and walks in the classroom. Seeing that look on his face breaks my heart, but he broke mine.

Liz finally walks up and I say "Finally, been waiting like an eternity."

She rolls her eyes "You're fine Mel." And chuckles.

I lean in and whisper "He's here."

She whispers back "I'd assume so, he is the teacher."

I whine "Liz, I'm serious I don't think I can do this."

She puts her hand on my shoulder "Mel, you can do this, you can't skip class."

I look her in the eyes "Watch me."

"Mel come on."

She then grabs my arm and pulls me into class.

I drag my ass as we walk into the classroom. I sit in my seat behind Liz and wait for class to start. The bell rings for the start of class and Mr. Hilton starts talking since that's his name in school.

Then again that doesn't matter because I can't pay attention. I do hear part of it though.

"Class, today we are working in these work books." He says as he passes out some books.

"You may write in these. When you get them turn to page 45. There you will see a bunch of sentences, you will write underneath if there's a noun, adverb, etc. And write it underneath. You'll turn it in at the end of class. Tomorrow we'll get ready to start on the different kinds of punctuation."

I turn to the page he said to and get to work.

After I finish my work I put my head down, and wait for the bell.

The bell rings and I put my paper on his desk as I walk out of class. I walk to my next class without even talking to Liz.

The next few classes pass in a breeze as I don't remember any of them. Finally lunch arrives and I sit and wait for my friends.

Cody, walks next to Liz and Miles who are hand in hand walking side by side. They get to the table and sit down. Cody looks at me and says "So I hear you don't have a date to homecoming."

I look back at him and say "Uh, no. I don't."

He nods slightly "Wanna go with me?"

I'm a bit shocked as I didn't think he'd ask. I take a minute to think about it Jake immediately comes to mind, but Cody is kinda cute and it's homecoming so I accept. "Sure Cody. I'll go with you."

He gives a big smile and says "Okay."

Lunch passes by with conversation between friends about homecoming and everything else.

After the lunch bell rings and before I go to my next class I stop by Jake's class since it's his free period.

I walk in the class and shut and lock the door. He looks up confused.

I look at him and all I say is "Why?"

He's a bit taken aback by my question and thinks carefully before he answers. "Mel, I was overwhelmed, drunk, and high. I wasn't thinking."

"That's an excuse. Not a reason." I say to him, hurt clear in my voice.

"I'm sorry Mel, that's all I have to give."

I walk towards him and look at him he stands up and walks toward me. "I wish things were different." I say as I look up at him. "Me too." He says quietly looking down at me.

He puts his hand on my waist and pulls me towards him and kisses me. Full of emotion, full of hunger. I pull back before anything else can happen.

I look at him and the tension is awkward. All I can say is "I can't, Jake."

I turn around and walk out the class not speaking another word.

A/N: Hopefully you all are enjoying what's happening! And homecoming with Cody? Well, we can only hope that goes well!
