Chapter 19: Storming Off

I nod and step inside. As we walk side by side I talk "I can't help but think I'm not being invited over for the same reasons in the past."

He sighs "Unfortunately not."

I look at him, "So why am I here then Jake?"

"There's something you should probably know."

"Oh really? Like what? Like the fact you were having sex the other night after we fought?"

He looks at me jaw dropped baffled.

"M-mel, how did you?-"

"I came by to apologize after I left the hospital, and came to the door and I heard whoever she was moaning. I'm not stupid." I say cutting him off.

"Melinda I'm sorry, it wasn't supposed to happen I didn't even intend for that to happen."

  I laugh loudly "You're sorry?! Sorry!?!? Jake I fell IN LOVE with you!! I've never had that happen to me before!! The first guy I ACTUALLY fall for and I get cheated on, fucking typical if you ask me! I don't know why I even bothered." I start crying before I continue "You're sorry Jake?! Well here's some news I'm fucking sorry too for thinking this would actually work out!"

I didn't let him reply as I stormed out of the house tears streaming down my face. I run to my car and get in, start it and start to pull out of the driveway, I start going down the road I end up pulling over not too long after because I can't see through the tears. When I pull over I get a phone call, I look at the caller ID and it says "Mom" so I quickly answer it as it could be about dad.

"Hello? Mom? Everything okay?"

"No, honey everything is as fine as it can be, no change in your dad. Still in a coma. I was just checking in on you since I haven't seen you since the other day at the hospital."

"Oh, yeah, everything is fine mom. Or as fine as it can be."

"Oh honey are you okay? What's wrong?"

"Oh, my boyfriend at school dumped me."

"Oh, sweetie I'm sorry."

"It's okay, could be worse I guess."

"That is true. Well I should be home for dinner tonight. We can do take out tonight I'm not in the mood for much else."

"Okay mom, I'm gonna go hang out with Liz for awhile."

"Alright honey, will you be home for dinner?"

"Yeah, I'll be home."

"Okay, I'll talk to you at home."

"Okay mom, love you."

"I love you too honey."

I hang up the phone and compose myself and drive to Lizzie's. She'll know what to do and how to help.

Lizzie and I are laughing on her bed, she definitely knows how to cheer me up. I told her everything that happened with Jake and she totally understood why I stormed out.

I look at the clock it's almost 5:30 I look at Liz "Well girl I better get home and eat and get ready for school tomorrow."

"Yeah, that'd probably be a smart idea."

I grab my purse and get ready to leave her house.

She gets up "So what are you going to do about Jake?"

I look at her "I'm not sure, ignore him?"

She laughs "Well I guess that's all you can do."

"Yeah, but hey I'll see you tomorrow."

"For sure."

We give each other a hug and I walk out the door. In the back of my mind I know she's right.

I walk inside and sit at the table where my mother and Chinese food are sitting and waiting for me.

I go and eat while my mother and I make small talk here and there, tensions are high since my dad went in the hospital. We don't really know what to say to each other.

After we eat I excuse myself and go get ready for bed. After the day I've had I just want an early night. I change and climb into bed as I turn off my light I hear my phone buzz on my night stand.

I reach over and grab it to see who it was, all I see on the screen is.

Jake: "I still love you Mel."

I put my phone back without sending a response, and drift off as I let the peaceful idea of sleep consume me.
