Tone POV
All alone.
He hated feeling all alone.
Maybe because he was an only child, to a single mother, with no cousins, or other family.
Maybe because he made lots of friends growing up so that he would not feel all alone.
Now he had no one.
No friends. No girlfriend.
Nola dumping him out of nowhere a few weeks after her sister's funeral was still raw to him. He loved her, he knew he did, but she never seemed to feel the same.
Nola was that type of chick you wanted to wife up on spot. That's how he felt when he first saw her...online before he even met her in person. He knew if he ever had a chance to meet Nola Kelly, he would swoop her up.
And he did.
And now he lost her.
Smart, pretty, funny, sexy, just everything in one package. Except for her insecurities about thinking she was not enough. No matter how much he told her how beautiful she was, or how much he cared, it was never enough.
How could he move on without her?
Without his group mates. Nola's sister Sarena broke up their group and kept him as a solo artist. Now he was on the road, by himself, performing and getting his name out there. His first single, Don't Look Down, was topping the charts and he was in high demand soon after he finished and released his solo album.
He was Tone the rapper now, not that little boy from Springfield, Missouri running wild with his knucklehead friends. He would get into all kinds of trouble, smashing car windows stealing what he could, and stealing cars just because. He was seventeen when he walked into Boyz in Da Field, Icee's youth program to help boys do better in life.
He had to drag his friends there, but he loved it from day one. He already had worshipped Icee and Fact Iz, but now he got to work with him in a program that could give him a future. He did not think he was a rapper, but Icee worked with him and his friends and got them started.
The next thing he knew, he signed them and offered them a record deal.
Too bad his boys saw it as playtime and never took it seriously. Meanwhile, he studied some of the greatest, Tupac, Biggie, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Nelly, and his favorite Icee.
Maybe it did not come naturally to him, but he studied their flow till he found his own. He still did not think he had what it took to be solo, but so far so good.
He just opened for Lady J in Los Angeles and had several shows around the area in the next few days. He did not know if he liked it out here. Too sunny. Everyone trying to be someone, and most of them fake about it.
He sat at a bar, with a drink, and his phone, scrolling through Twitter. He was trying to build his following up. He wasn't even verified yet.
all alone in LA., wat it do? #Tonetherapper
There were a couple of girl fans always sliding in his DM. He did not hate that, but he was not about that. He was more than his looks. Tall, muscular, a few tats, caramel complexion, a large fro he started to loc up after his break up.
He needed a new look. Feel refreshed.
He snapped a pic of himself, posted it, and tweeted it out.

He finished his drink and then decided he should just go back to his hotel and at least sulk and watch Netflix and think about his life. Where was it going? He may have had success, but what did it mean?
He started typing in his notes some thoughts that came into his head.
I'm a man that don't wanta feel alone
I like a honey, in my ride', Rollin, we gone ride
Honey looking fly, I'm her guy, I ain't alone
Lookin' for her, bruh, lookin' for love,
I'm a man, I ain't afraid
To look for loveHe was being super sappy, but it was all good. He was not afraid of showing his emotions. He was not the type of guy that liked to be alone. He wanted to be in a relationship. Boo'd up. He missed Nola, no lie, but he knew he had to move on.
"I can not believe you are all alone?"
He heard someone with a soft, sweet voice behind him. When he turned, he saw that it was Riyah James, the smoking hot singer slash social media influencer. He met her at the Grammys earlier in the year, but he was so into Nola he never thought much of her.
"Riyah James!"
"In the flesh, Papi!" She moved extremely close to him, smiled, then took a seat on the bar stool beside him. "What are you doing all alone in my city?"
"Your city? I thought this was L.A.? You're from-"
"Was! Was from a little broken-down Galveston, Texas. Don't ever repeat that again." She giggled at him and motioned for the bartender to come over. "Vodka with lemonade and lots of lemon."
She turned back to him and smiled. "I saw you had a show today so I had to go see you perform."
"You were at my show?"
"Yes, sure, why not."
"I'm just a nobody."
"Ha! A nobody doesn't look like this," she said and glanced over at him. Her drink was sitting in front of her and she took a sip. "There, cools me off because boy you make me hot." She leaned closer to him. "And wet."
Well hell!
Suddenly the little sappy love song he was writing meant nothing to him.
Here was hands down, one of the hottest females he ever laid eyes on, and she was coming on to him. What was he supposed to do with that?
"Where is your little uh...girlfriend? The one all over you at the Grammys?"
"It's uh...that's over."
"And she's a fool. Not me." She moved close to him again, her lips nearly on his. "I wanta fuck you."
It had been months...nearly a year since he had sex. Nola was a virgin, and he never pressured her to have sex, though he wanted it with her. She was never ready, so it was nothing to him.
But now...hell yeah he was down.
He was all over Riyah before the elevator doors even closed.
He was going to break this girl in two he was so hard.
Riyah was a nice-sized, curvy girl, shorter than him, but nice and tall at about five feet seven. Long, dark brown hair down her midback, plump, round, kissable lips...that looked like they could suck good dick.
Just beautiful.
And she put those lips to work once in his room. She unzipped his pants and stuffed him in her mouth, going to work on him.
He gasped as he steadied himself and watched her. A superstar giving him head. What in the world?
Then he peeled off her clothes and had her bent over his bed, fucking her from behind.
Life was good.
A/N: I really wanted to get into Tone's mind in this book. He truly loved Nola, but will these two make it back to each other? Now we have Riyah in the picture so let's just see.
