Most of the time when I had lunch with Sia we would go to the silver dollar, eat as much food as we could in the one hour I took for lunch and feel sick for the rest of the day. This is exactly what we did today. Expect today Grace joined us, I was hoping that she would leave her crazy pregnant personality at home. She was already eating a cookie when we walked in. She smiled at us, which slowly turned into a frown.

"What is the matter?" I asked sitting across from her. Sia got in next to me. There was no way we were going to battle sitting next to the angry pregnant lady.

"I don't like this cookie," Grace said putting it down on the plate.

"I'll get it," I said picking it up. I ate it, it was great, Sia took a bit and frowned.

"That's really salty" Sia said.

"That's it, I knew there was something wrong with it," Grace said.

"I think it's ok" I said. taking another bite, I couldn't taste any salt. They just stared at me strangely as I ate the whole cookie. This wasn't the first time that Grace had joined us for lunch, and it was nice to have her here. We ordered and ate; the talk was light, and I wanted to keep that way. I didn't tell them about Samara or anything that Hunter had told me. I didn't want them to worry.

"Do you know," Sia said looking at her watch, "That is is exactly a year today that we arrived in Silver thread valley," We all looked out the window at the bus station across the road. The bench where I sat for so long hoping that mum was going to drive back. The day that changed our lives for the better, I think. When I think about that day, I can't help but think of mum. Thinking of what she was doing in prison and if she still thinks what she was did was fine.

"No, I didn't know" I said.

"I did," Grace said, "I wasn't going to bring it up."

"Why?" I asked. Grace shrugged.

"It makes me think about mum," she said.

"Me too," Sia and I spoke. I was glad that I wasn't the only one but knew that even though we all loved living here. The main reason we are here is because of her. Because of her choice and her terrible treatment of us.

"We have had a strange year..." Grace said.

"A strange life," Sia interrupted. I couldn't agree more. I thought this lunch was going to be light and breezy, but it had turned a little heavy and I should probably just continue with the theme. So, I told them. I started from the night he nearly tore my neck off to the episode with the stranger on the hill. I told them about the time at the nursing home and the conversation I had with Liam and Marget about female bear shifters. I didn't know much about them, and I knew that Grace and Sia wouldn't know a whole lot. During my downtime at the centre, I tried to look up more information about female bear shifters but there was limited information. Most of the information I got was from forums, people who had female bear shifters in their families. It seemed like the government didn't see a point in spending the money and time to learn about them. The humans tended to agree, most thought it was better just to kill them.

"Do you think it's safe to be Hunter mate?" Sia asked.

"Of course," Grace said. I knew they were both asking from different points of view. She had a shifter that would look after her, battle for her, and be there. While Sia still thought the shifter mate thing was a novelty.

"I think so" I answered honestly, "Hunter said that the nursing home is equipped to deal with her. Logan, Todd, and Rory know about it, and they are putting extra safeguards around the farm."

"Will she ever stop?" Sia asked.

"I don't know" I replied.

"So..." Sia started but stopped. We had known each other for so long that she knew every question that she was going to ask. I would have asked myself a hundred times over before deciding.
