Percy Jackson
I woke up in my bed at the Poseidon cabin. I had called mom last night that I will be sleeping at camp. She seems okay with it, I had done this a lot in the past. She knows that I need a break from the stressful school. Stressful for the brain.
I looked to the wall where a clock hangs. Annabeth had bought that five months ago so I won't be late if I need to do something at a specific time.
6:13
I groaned. Why couldn't have I just woke up a little later? I rolled to the side, trying to get more sleep. But it seems my brain is feeling rebellious, as fifteen minutes later I still can't sleep. I sighed and sat up. A walk at the beach sounds nice about now. It's better than laying in bed waiting for my ADHD to act up.
I put on a camp t-shirt and some jeans. I patted my pocket where my pen/sword is tucked. As a demigod, you aren't completely safe. And with my rotten luck, it is more so. I walked out of my cabin and to the beach. There isn't many campers around because of the time.
I breathe in the salty scent of the sea. The sound of the waves making me relaxed. Being a son of Poseidon, I always have a connection with the sea. I began to walk along the shores. Apollo's chariot is just beginning to rise.
"My lord!" I jumped and turned. There was a naiad with her shoulders above the waves. She bowed.
"My lord. I bear a message from the Hudson river of Manhattan. He says a nymph told him that a demigod is being attacked by a group of monsters near a river at Central park. He hopes that you can help the half-blood."
"Oh, um thanks," I said before quickly running to the stables. I whistled for Blackjack my pegasus.
The rivers Hudson and East, were a little more cooperative ever since I gave them that sand dollar. And they became more friendly after I gave them a basket of cookies and another sand dollar for helping in defeating a batch of lastrygonian giants.
A blur of black flew past me and I grabbed the pegasus' mane. I hauled myself up as Blackjack whinnied, "Yo boss! Where to? Ya got any donuts?"
"Blackjack I already gave you a box yesterday! And you almost trampled a camper for being too much hyper. And we'll go to Central park."
Blackjack snorted, "Puh-lease, he didn't get hurt."
"I'll give you two or three donuts. Deal?"
"Ten."
"Eight."
"Fifteen."
"Five. And I'll go lower if you don't agree." What? A hyperactive Blackjack is almost as bad as a hyperactive Leo. Minus the fires.
"Fine, fine."
We arrived at the park and I immediately saw a cyclops among the trees. I jumped before Blackjack reached the ground. I tucked in and rolled at my back to absorb the impact. Blackjack went to distract the cyclops, flying close before moving out of the monster's reach when it went to grab him. I uncapped Riptide before taking a quick sweep around me.
I saw the half-blood hiding behind a tree. He is sat on the ground with the tree on his back. He doesn't seem to be injured. I turned back to the monster to see it hitting Blackjack's wing. He whinnied in pain and I felt my blood boil.
I screamed and charged. The cyclops probably hadn't noticed me 'till now because he turned to me looking surprised. He raised his club to hit me but he was too slow. I had already reached his legs and slashed at the side of his thigh, making a deep gash. He stumbled as he grunted in pain. I moved behind him and jumped, stabbing my sword in his back. He let out one final scream before dissolving in golden dust.
I looked for Blackjack and found him leaning on one of the trees. He has his injured wing tucked tightly against his side. I ran to him. "Blackjack are you okay?!" I said once I reached him.
"M'fine, boss. I'll be feeling alright after a box of donuts."
I chuckled lightly, even if I am filled with worry. Trust Blackjack to think about donuts while injured. Then I realized something. The naiad had said a group of monsters. And just then I heared a growl and a pained cry behind me and I immediately turned around.
A hellhound is pinning the half-blood in the ground and it opened it's mouth to get his neck. As I quickly ran to them, the half-blood raised his arm to sheild himself and the hellhound clamped it's teeth around it. The half-blood screamed in pain and I swung my sword at the beast. The sword went through like water and the hellhound melted into shadows.
Another growl and two hellhounds appeared from the shadows. They glared at me and bared their teeth. I took a stance, waiting for one of them to attack. One lunged at me and I rolled away before slashing riptide at it, making it dissolve into shadows. The second hesitated, before it dissapeared into shadows. I lowered my sword, grinning.
Only my demigod instincts saved me from being dog food, as the hellhound appeared from a shadow from my right and attacked. I slashed instinctively, hitting it's face before dissolving into shadows.
"Now that was close," I muttered to myself. I turned to the demigod behind me and froze.
The demigod is sitting up clutching his injured hand and staring at me wide-eyed. But that is not what made me froze. Blond hair, blue eyes, muscular build. The demigod in front of me is none other than Zach Doellen.
Me and my rotten luck.

I mentally screamed as I brought Doellen to the big house. Well, more like I'm helping him to get there. His wound and the shadow travelling made him woozy, and I'm not that cold hearted to just leave him to bleed to death.
Both of us had freaked out when we realized who the other is. Him, for what he had seen and what I did, and me, for realizing that Zach, Zach, my bully, is a demigod. I then explained to him about the greek gods, and him being a half-blood, and about camp. He thought I was crazy until I pointed out the monsters that tried to kill him. And I also asked him if he had ADHD and dylexia, to which he said yes. I can tell he was really freaked out.
And he even became more freaked out when Mrs. O'leary appeared.
I promised Blackjack that I will come back with donuts and an Apollo camper to heal him. Since he wouldn't be able to fly to camp and making him ride on Mrs. O'leary would be weird. He agreed as long as I bring him a box of donuts. Oh, well. Gotta get ready for a hyperactive pegasus.
I helped Doellen sit in a chair as Chiron told me to get an Apollo camper. The Apollo cabin are playing basketball and I went to the nearest one.
"Hey, Aideline."
"Oh, hey Percy. Whats up?" She said as she took a seat at the sidelines. She wiped the sweat from her face.
"There's a new camper at the big house and a hellhound got him."
She nodded and ran to the big house. As I watched, I can't help but feel a stab of guilt. Because of my own selfishness, Zach would be dead by now. If I had told him about his parentage when he followed me and saw the hydra, he would already know the truth and be safe at camp. Instead, I sent him away, not even thinking that a monster could get his scent and kill him. I cursed myself.
I sighed turned to another Apollo camper. I need to hurry or Blackjack will kick my arse for taking so long.
