After eating lunch, Emery went to the library. She had spent the morning with her siblings, doing different activities, and now at afternoon she's free to do as she wished. So, naturally, as an Athena child, she went to the library.
She lightly touched her fingers on the spines as she read the titles. She walked along the aisle, choosing which book she would read, until she came across a black leather-bound book with gold writings. Curiously, she took out the book and struggled to read the title.
The Second Titan War and Giant War
Her eyes widened and she got a giddy feel in her stomach. Finally, she will get some answers. She had been hearing some mentions of those wars and asked her siblings, but this book can probably tell her more than them.
She took a seat and began reading. The book started about three children and a satyr running to camp. The girl, Thalia, died trying to buy her friends more time and Zues took pity so he turned her to a tree. So that's why it's called Thalia's tree, she thought. She read about when Zues' lightning bolt was stolen and a twelve year old Percy, Annabeth, and a satyr named Grover retrieved it.
"Annabeth and Grover first arrived in camp. When the campers asked them where Percy is, they said that he's going to Olympus to bring back the Master bolt to Zues. This made the campers happy. By bringing back the bolt, a Third World War is prevented."
Emery then read when Percy arrived in camp. The campers asked many questions about the quest. One of the questions was, how was it like being the gods' presence? Percy answered with, 'I could barely look at them, without feeling a slight tingle, as if my body were starting to burn.'*
As far as Emery could tell, this book was created by interviewing the important people who did the quests about what happened. The book is divided to six parts with their own chapters. Part six seem to have more chapters than the others.
She was about to start reading Part ll, where it is about Thalia's tree being poisoned by Luke, when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to see Vic beaming at her.
"Hey, Em!"
"Hey," Emery greeted at her friend. She saw Zach and Ken come up behind her, looking around. Zach sat beside her while Vic and Ken went to sit in front of them.
"Guess what?"
"What?" Em asked.
"Zach and Ken got claimed!" Vic grinned.
"Oh, really? Congrats!" Emery said to Ken and Zach who blushed slightly before a small frown appeared on his face.
"What's the matter?"
He scowled. "Jackson's the matter. That d*ck sent me to the Infirmary."
"Yeah. He made a lot of gashes on Zach with a sword and he yelled something about some war. Oh, and Chiron told us to come here to the library for answers," Ken said.
"What a coincidence! I was just reading about those wars!" Emery exclaimed. She showed them the book she was reading. The three squinted as they tried make sense of all the dancing, jumbled, letters. Dylexia sucks.
"Um, does it say, The Conrad Telly War and...um..." Ken mumbled and moved his face closer.
Em sighed. "No, it says, The Second Titan War and Giant War."
"Oooooh! What happened?" Vic said intruiged.
"Read for yourself. Its in ancient greek."
Minutes later...
The group had just finished Part 1 with the lightning bolt getting stolen.
"Dude, this is Jackson we're talking about right? The same Jackson who never goes to the cafeteria? The one who doesn't fight back no matter what we do? The one who doesn't have a single friend in highschool?" said Zach as he looked around the group.
"Yeah...but it's also the same Jackson who is the son of Poseidon. The same one who is also skilled with a sword. The one who's the 'leader' of this camp. And he also had tons of friends in this camp for children of gods." Vic reminded him.
Ken has an uneasy look on his face. "Like I said, it seems there is more to Percy Jackson than we know."
"All right. Now I'm really curious." Vic stood up from her seat. "I think I saw another copy displayed. Be right back!" she said cheerily before disappearing to one of the bookshelves.
"Hey! Why don't you get two more!" Zach called to her.
Vic stuck her tongue out before going back to the shelves.
Emery gasped and brought her hand to her heart. "I never thought I'd see the day that Zach Doellen would willingly read a book! Willingly!"
"Oh, ha ha, very funny."
"Is that sarcasm I hear Mr. Doellen?" Emery asked in a perfect copy of Mrs. Smiles, who is not as cheery as her name sounds.
"Of course not," Zach said in a perfectly straight face.
Silence reigned. Until Ken broke out laughing. Zach joined him and Emery too. Their laughs echoed around the near empty room.
Emery wiped tears out of her eyes. She keeps giggling from time to time. "Alright. Now where's Vic? isn't she supposed to be here by now?"
Ken gained a fake-thoughtful look on his face as he tapped his finger on his jaw. "Oh, I dunno. Maybe getting eaten by a hellhound?"
Em playfully shoved his shoulder. "Don't joke about those things."
Suddenly, a high pitched scream came from outside. Followed by a bark as loud as a war cannon.
The group looked at each other wide-eyed.
"You just jinxed it, man," Zach stated, before they ran outside as fast as their feet could take them. While trying not to crash into one of the shelves, that is.

*Its true! Re-read Chapter 21 in the lightning thief.
Before anyone tells me about the border and no monsters was supposed to go inside, it will be explained. Clue: collar made by Beckendorf.
Now that clue was pretty obvious...
Disclaimer: The characters, their pasts, the camps CHB and CJ, and others and rights, go to Rick Riordan. Gods, monsters, and other mythological figures, places, and things, come from greek and roman mythologies that Rick Riordan had borrowed, and I in turn did too. I only own the OCs and the plot.
