I wake up to a loud snoring belting in my ear. Dazed, I open my eyes and look at the blonde boy with his arms wrapped around me sleeping peacefully beside me. Embarrassed, I realize I'm naked and pry his arms off of me. With success of not waking luke up, I dress quickly in shorts and a sweatshirt and make my way down stairs. My head pounds and it feels like it's ready to explode. I vow to never drink again as I make it the vacant kitchen. I make myself a glass of water and chug it within seconds and fill it up ad drain it three more times.
I sit at the kitchen table and rest my head in my folded arms. I replay last nights events over and over in my head until I give myself an even worse blood pounding head ache. I couldn't believe I had spoken to luke about the worst part of my life and actually had the courage to ask him to take me away. I felt selfish and a little childish. Hell, Luke was eighteen and I know he didn't know what he wanted out of life. It also wasn't his responsibility to help me. I exhale softly and tense up once I hear a low husky voice.
"Good morning." I look up to see luke in a pair of my sweats shirtless with a smile on his tired face.
"Good morning." I grin. "You don't look like you slept much."
"Not really." He shrugs pulling out a seat in front of me and sitting in it roughly. "I couldn't sleep."
"And whys that?" I ask propping my head up with my hand looking at his messy but perfect hair.
"I couldn't stop thinking last night." He looks down at the table. "You said some things that really had me thinking." He finally looks back up meeting his light blue eyes with my green ones.
"Look, I'm sorry. I was drunk. Just forget it all." I tell him.
"I can't forget it." He shakes his head. "Will you please ask me what exactly I was thinking about?" He asks with a shy smile on his face.
"What exactly were you thinking about hemmings?" I giggle a little.
"Schools almost over. Not even a month left. Im going to college in New York." He states passionately. "To major in music." He pauses for the longest time before continuing. "And you're coming with me." He almost whispers it but I heard and the words buzz like bees through my head for a few minutes before I can speak.
"Did you hear me?" He asks quietly as his cheeks redden.
"Yeah." I shake my head in shock. "I-I heard you. I just don't want you to feel like you have to." I take in a sharp breath. "I was drunk last night. I was just rambling."
"You're an honest drunk. I'm not going to sit here and act like I didn't hear you and act like I can't do anything when I can and I don't have to." He chuckles softly. "I want to." He breathes. "Promise me something though." He says quietly.
"Anything." He holds out his hand for me to take and without hesitation I do.
"Promise me that whenever he's scaring the living shit out of you, you run out of this house and run into mine. I know when he usually gets home so the door will always be unlocked. Promise me you won't take it anymore." He brings my small hand up to his mouth and kisses it softly.
"I promise." I whisper.
"Where has your dad been?" Luke asks quietly moving his thumb slowly over the top of my hand.
"Some business thing. I don't know, he never tells me anything." I pause.
"We have a gig tonight and I'd like to see you there."
I smile widely. "I'll think about it."
"In that case." She says loudly standing up smiling. "I'll be here around five to pick you up." I walks towards the front door and I follow quickly behind him.
"I'll be ready I suppose." I chuckle as he opens the door.
"I'll see you later." He smiles.
"Luke." I whisper softly gulping loudly.
"Yeah?" He turns to face me with a worried expression carved on his pale face.
I quickly close the small gap between us and hold his body tightly against mine nuzzling my face in his neck. Not even a second later his arms wrap around my waist keeping me flush against him. I breathe him in. My lips press softly against his pulsing warm neck. I pull away a little looking into his eyes not wanting this moment to end.
"Thank you." I say softly.
He places his lips hard against my forehead breathing in slowly. "No, thank you." He mummers pulling away looking at me with a grin.
"For what?" I question.
"For letting me be apart of your life." He blushes.
"You're welcome."
He releases me and I watch him as he walks slowly down the sidewalk admiring his tall slender but muscular figure. I bite my lip keeping my smile to myself as I shut the door. My back hits the door as I cover my face with my sweater paw and smile wider not being able to stop. Someone beating on the door brings me out of my day dreaming. I open the door quickly thinking it was Luke but am surprised and saddened at the fact it's my dad. He looks me in the eyes for the first time in I don't know how long.
"What's up with you?" He grumbles pushing past me gently ad throwing his brief case on the couch before also throwing himself on it.
"Nothing." I tell him. "How was your trip?" I ask sitting in the red recliner.
"Shitty as always." He looks at me squinting. "You're very talkative."
"Just trying to make conversation." I mumble as he closes his eyes and unbuttons his jacket while kicking off his shiny shoes.
"I didn't have meetings." He admits looking at me again with shame in his eyes.
"Then where did you go?" I ask amazed by how normal we seem with each other.
It didn't surprise me all that much that we could talk like this still after all that's happened. After all, he was still my father. Before my mother left we used to stay up all night and have conversations. Whether it was about my little pony or how terrible moms lasagna was. That's probably the one thing that makes me the most sad out of all of this. We don't bond anymore. I haven't seen my father smile because my mother took his happiness with her. On some level, I felt sorry for this mess of a man. He lost his love. His soul mate if you believe in that kind of stuff. I'd be bitter too but not this bitter.
"To..." He pauses rubbing his temple. "To get help." He admits sighing out of his nose loudly. "I know things haven't been the way they should. I know what I've..." He swallows hard and clears his throat. "What I've done is wrong and I'll never forgive myself. I've hurt you. My only daughter. I've physically hurt you." While tears fall from his eyes none fall from mine.
"I will tell you that you're brave." I tell him. "For telling me this and for getting help but I will never forgive you because you don't deserve it." I look him straight in the eyes letting him know I was completely serious.
"I don't expect you to." He wipes his eyes on the back of his white dress shirt sleeve. "I'll be gone for a while. I don't know how long." He looks away for me this time. "I'm going to bed soon. Don't come in." He warns through a cracked voice.
That warning should have been a sign to me. It should have been a bright huge flag. At the time it wasn't. So I dismiss his comment and leave him in his self pity and pathetic state running up the stairs.•••••
