"We got everything?" Ashton asks as I set my guitar case in the back of his dad's SUV.
"I think so." Michael says. "Picks?"
"Right here." Calum holds up our pick bag and trows it in the back.
"Don't forget we have to stop by and pick up Wylie." I remind Ashton as he shuts the hatch on the car.
"I won't." He smiles. "What's up with you two anyway?"
I think for a second. "I don't know actually. We haven't talked about it and I don't want to push her." I shrug opening the backseat door. The others follow my lead and get in as well.
"Shit, here comes my dad." Ashton rolls his eyes and his window as the six foot five husky man stops at the window.
"Be careful. Here's money for food after or whatever you guys do after your gigs." Darrel hands him two hundred dollar bills. "After it's over call us."
"Will do pops." Ashton salutes him with a grin.
We watch him walk back into the house until we pull out of the drive way and drive to Wylie's. "Why was there a bruise on her face the other day?" Michael asks bluntly.
"Not my place to say." I grumble not wanting to put her business out in the open.
"But she's okay?" Ashton asks concerned. "I don't have to beat up some douchebag?"
"No." I shake my head. "She's okay."
Soon, we pull up to her driveway and her dad's Mercedes is parked perfectly in the drive way. I'm guessing he's sober since that's the best parking job I've seen him do In a while. Without saying a word, I get out popping my neck as I do. I wasn't nervous to see her. Hell, I was excited to see her face. It was her dad that made me nervous. When I fell asleep at her house and he came home hammered I thought e was going to beat my ass. Skipping the first step of her porch, I knock three times on the door as I always had. It opens to reveal her father. Sober.
"Luke." He says softly. "Come in." He gestures me in with a slight smile. "Your boyfriends here!" He yells at the stairs.
"Not my boyfriend!" Wylie yells down at him. "Luke, I'll be down in a minute!"
"So you're in a band?" Her dad questions folding his arms in front of his chest.
"Yeah. Just for fun though." I tell him awkwardly scratching the back of my neck.
"That's cool." He clears his throat. "No curfew. I don't care how late she's out." He says. "Also, I'm sorry about the other night."
I loo at him shocked for a second to determine if he was lying or not and saw only sincerity. "It's okay sir." He smiles as she walks down the stairs.
I thought my eyes would pop out of my head. She had a Jack Daniels cut off on with only a bra underneath. Black tight skinny jeans with both knees blown out cling perfectly to her curvy body. Red converse new converse squeak a little with every step she took. Her long hair was in a messy pony tail swinging slightly as she walks towards me. Little make up covered her face and I admire her natural beauty.
"Ready to go?" Her arm latches onto mine loosely as she looks up at me smiling.
"Yes. By the way you look stunning." I say softly kissing her cheek lightly.
"Get outta here kids." Her dad chuckles and I found his behavior odd.
"I'll explain later." She whispers guiding me out of the house.
"Come on love birds!" Calum yells.
"Don't want to be late!" Michael grumbles. Obviously pre show nerves are already getting to him.
"You first." I open the door for her making sure she gets in okay.
"How have you guys been?" She asks the boys happily.
"Great!" They all say in unison.
"What about you?" Ashton questions her looking at her in the rearview mirror.
"Fantastic." She looks at me biting her lip and places her head against my shoulder.
I take her hand in mine lacing my fingers with her tiny ones that I found cute. I kiss her forehead gently. It takes thirty minutes to get to the moderate sized venue in almost complete silence besides the radio.
"I wish I knew the words to your guys' songs." Wylie frowns as she carries my guitar following us into the building.
"One day you'll know them." I smile down at her meeting her bright green eyes and admire the way they especially shine tonight.
"Hopefully one day thousands of people know them." Ashton says loudly getting pumped like he normally does.
"We want to be famous." Calum smiles widely.
"SOMEDAY! SOMEHOW!" Michael yells quoting Nickelback and we all sing along to the rest of the song multiple times as we set up the stage.
Behind the red curtain, voices could be heard. Some already chanting 5sos. Some in there own conversations. Before show rituals include, drinking red bull, fixing our hair, and telling jokes to pass the time until the curtain opens. Wylie wraps her arms around me as the guy who owns the place begins to talk through the microphone.
"You'll do great." She whispers.
"Hopefully." I breathe holding her tight.
"I have a surprise for you if you do."
Before I could say anything, she kisses me. Her hands wrap around my neck tightly as she pulls me down to her. I kiss her back passionately and mentally wish this kiss could last forever. She pulls away smiling at me innocently.
"Was that the surprise?" I chuckle.
"Nope." She pops the p with a giggle. "You'll see." She turns I her heels and disappears through the curtain.
"5 seconds of summer!" The guy yells queuing us.
The curtain opens to reveal even more people then I had expected to show up. Most of them were girls. My parents sit in the very back along with Michael and Calum's parents. Our parents were supportive but not enough. Especially my dad but he agreed to go because I punched Ben.
There was nothing like being up on stage aside from kissing Wylie. People you didn't even know knew your name. Tweeted about you guys. Talked about you nonstop. It was already like we were already famous and this was good enough for me. The audience cheers and applauds us as we take our places in front of them. Wylie blows me a kiss and I catch it.
"Thanks for coming out tonight!" Ashton says proudly through his mic.
"This first song is called, Where Ever You Are." I say as we jump right into the hour long show.
Song by song Wylie smiles widely at us with constant amazement spread like butter across her face. The band was something we never thought would get us anywhere. As long as we had fun doing it and made a couple people happy, I'd continue doing it. I loved the way Wylie's eyes would shine with every word I sang. To say her smile made me fuzzy and warm inside was an understatement. It was kinda like that feeling you get when you ride a roller coaster right before you go down the big hill and as you're going down it at full speed. Or how you feel when you come home from a long day and take off your pants. I guess to put it simply, pure euphoria. That's how it felt with Wylie all the time.
Love is such a funny and complicated thing really. At first you think it isn't true. As if you think you're too young to feel such a thing. Love was something I never thought I would find or something that would ever find me. Being around her I felt at complete peace. Nirvana. It's been nearly a week since our paths crossed again and I got up the courage to knock on her door. A measly little week but it felt much longer then that. It was as if all those year apart from one another didn't exist and we've still been inseparable ever since. There was still south more I didn't know about this girl and I craved to know every little tiny detail about her even if it took year to get it out of her.
"Thank you everybody." I say through the mic ignoring the sweat rolling down the sides of my face. "It was a pleasure." I look at Wylie who blushes.
"Next weekend if you all are interested in coming out again." Michael says with a triumphant smile.
The audience applauds, screams and whistles as we start packing up the stage. After we finish a few girls talk to us and get pictures with us. It was funny, a year ago no one knew us. We were all we had in school as now several people we didn't know gush over us and demand autographs. I used to sit in my room try to prefect my signature once I signed my first autograph at mcdonalds. Our parents tell us they're heading out and congratulate us on such a great show.
"You were astonishing." Wylie giggles as her arms lace around my waist. Instinctively I wrap my arms around her neck holding her close to my sweaty body.
"Thank you for coming." I say out of breathe.
"Wouldn't have missed it." She pulls away smiling. "Since you did so amazing, you can have your surprise." She says with a devilish smile.
"What would that be?" I ask.
"It's a surprise." She rolls her eyes shaking her head. "When we get there you'll know." She bites her lip.•••••
