"She seems happy." Calum points out looking up from the brown acoustic guitar.
"Yeah. She is." I nod smiling.
"You need to ask her out." Michael says with a chuckle.
"A picnic." Ashton adds. "Girls love that kind of stuff."
"Maybe." I think about it and determine that she would love it. "I'm gonna go check on her."
Ten minutes passes since she went to change so I go to change as well. I race up the stairs. I open the door. Wylie isn't in the room but the bathroom door is closed with the light on. I knock on the door and hear soft sniffs and a cough. Thinking the worst as I always do, I knock harder and faster.
"Wylie." I say three times not getting a response. "Wylie, baby?"
"I can't go out there." Her voice cracks.
"Why not? Just let me in please?" I ask quietly.
Seconds later the handle rattles. She avoids making eye contact with me as she stands in her bikini in front of the full body mirror. To say my breath was taken away was a huge understatement. I've said it many times but damn this girl was beyond beautiful. The black plain bikini clung on her pale body perfectly. All of the bruises and fading ones didn't yell at me like it would to someone else. They were the past and she was recovering. I gulp harshly becoming nervous looking at her. Her face is red as eyes are that puffiness I hated. Her chin quivers as she looks at me through the mirror.
"You're breathe taking." I finally say walking slowly behind her wrapping both of my arms around her waist.
"Don't lie to me." She looks down as if disappointed in her own self.
"I wouldn't lie to you unless I had to. You're beautiful. Simple as that but yet so complex." I kiss her neck gently placing my chin in the crook of her neck. "Why are you crying?"
"All these bruises and scars." She sniffs. "They're ugly."
"No." I say sternly. "They're the past. It just shows that you won the battle you had to go through and you lived. You fucking lived. You're alive. Flaunt what you have. Not many girls have someone to tell them this but I will always tell you how beautiful I think you are when you think you look like complete shit. Honestly, I feel honored to be in your presence." I kiss her cheek and bring a smile to her slightly pink face.
"You know?" She turns around facing me wrapping her arms around my neck. I place my hands around her waist breathing contently. "I feel like I'm dreaming Luke. You're absolutely amazing and undeserving of you." She places her lips sweetly on mine.
"It is I who is undeserving of you my love." I say through the kiss. "Let's go for that swim." I pull away looking into her bright green eyes.
"Let's go." She grabs my hand running out of the bathroom as to the back porch.
It was dark so ashton and Michael built a fire which made me smile remembering the fire Wylie and I created. Calum sets up speakers around the rock and sitting area blaring Fall Out Boy. Wylie hesitates taking off her towel but shrugs it off to pool at her feet. The boys let out whistles as shouts but stop once I glare at them. Even though it was dark she was still insecure about herself.
"Count of three." I grab her hand.
"One." She smirks at me.
"Two."
With out letting her say three, I pick her up and throw her in the lake. I jump in after I throw her in. I come up to see her pouting at me and splashes me in the face.
"You asshole." She giggles throwing water at me.
"You love it!" I yell.
"Watch out!" Michael screams plummeting fully clothes into the cold water.
"His hair dyes gonna fade!" Ashton laughs throwing his shirt and pants behind him as he jumps in.
"Well, what the hell!" Calum chuckles taking off his clothes and does a flip as he jumps off the dock.
For the next hour we splash each other like five year olds and play Marco Polo. I grab a hold of Wylie's waist pulling her flush against me. She shivers and cusses under her breathe from being so cold. I kiss her nose endearingly and drag her silently out of the lake. Having forgotten towels, we race into the house and into the bedroom.
"I'm gonna get dressed." She bends over taking clothes out of her suit case and it was hard avert my eyes from the sight in front of me. She skips to the bathroom locking herself in.
I change into dry clothes myself and lay down pulling the comforter over me. A few minutes later she comes out of the bathroom in a huge shirt and looking closely at it, it was mine. I smile widely at her appreciating her appearance making her blush from my stare. She crawls on the bed beside me placing her damp head onto my bare chest. I play with her hair slowly. A small sigh falls from her lips.
"What are you thinking about?" I question her softly.
"You." She yawns covering her mouth lazily.
"I'm glad I knocked on your door." I yawn feeling suddenly tired myself.
"Me too." She leave a soft kiss on my chest and I leave one on the top of her head.
