"I didn't do it!" I hissed down at the tiny redhead glaring at me.Josh the doctor had to stay back at the restaurant and help out with his brain, entrusting me to deliver his date safely to her house.
"I don't believe you!" Syin hissed back, shoving an accusing finger in my chest.
"Oh really? So do I have to seek your approval on living my life, little witch?"
"Don't you dare!" She spat furiously.
Just then, the toilet flushed noisily and I had to stand down, arresting all urge to grab the little redhead and bite her for even just a second(a vampire's quickie).
Syin plonked herself on the beige sofa behind her, throwing her head to let the long red strands sprawl over the sofa back.
She looked tired, sleepy. Yet, she couldn't blink for too long, just to keep me in her sight.
Daisy showed up, hands running through the length of her white hair.
She had gotten rid of the make-up, yet still looked appealing."I feel bad for the poor men. They must have been in so much pain while dying!" She sighed squeezing herself next to Syin on the love-seater. "I mean, can you imagine being torn while alive! So inhumane!"
Luckily one wasn't alive when whatever harvested his liver spilled his guts out. I wanted to appease her, but that would sell me out to the witch.
"I'm sure whoever did that will be caught!" Syin comforted, dashing me a hot glare from beside her housemate.
It seemed I would not have some erotic feed, so maybe leaving would ease up the tension between myself, and the little witch.
Either she had never been around my kind, or simply she did not have a thread of trust for us. Well she wasn't wrong for not trusting us. Heck! I didn't even trust my girlfriend (more of friends-with-benefits)."I'll get going!"
"What?" Daisy barked. She whipped her head left and right between her friend and me. "You can't leave!" She cried, but immediately withdrew from how it sounded. "I mean," her eyes lowered, "maybe it would be better if you stayed. Just, just for the-"
"No!" Syin shot sharply.
She peeled her back off the sofa and rose.
"Don't worry about us, we'll be fine!" The statement was directed to me, though she trained her eyes strictly on Daisy. She was warning her not to insist on my staying there. Heaven knows I didn't also feel safe around a Syran who had no idea what our world was like."Come on Syin," Daisy whispered pleadingly. "We can use some-" her head suddenly fell back, before sliding down to the right till she was lying awkwardly on the sofa.
I smirked crossing arms over my chest.
A show of power, that is what she was trying to brag about...power.
"You should leave now!" Syin ordered facing me fully. Her gray eyes held no warmth, they looked and felt as cold as a morning in Alaska.
I huffed before throwing my eyes around the room. Not bad for a royal.
"Even with your bodyguards, how long do you think you can survive now that you're under our radar?" I asked walking around the sofa Daisy had passed out on. A little bit of teasing wouldn't be so bad.
And her expression was priceless.I took careful steps till I was towering over her little frame.
She felt threatened. Her shallow breathing was selling her out, regardless of how much she was holding up her flat expression.
"But we can come to an agreement, little witch!""Don't call me that!" Syin barked taking a step away from me.
I got rid of that space without effort and once again, was gazing down at her shaking eyes. Her forehead was moist, her heartbeats over the roof as she kept on trying to look intimidating. But my aura scared even other clan leaders, so who was Syin in comparison?
I leaned down to level our faces then grinned as we exchanged breaths. "I'll call you, whatever the hell I please, little witch!"
"YOU!" She groaned and her eyes shifted to purple in a millisecond while her body emitted the most purest energy I had ever felt. It almost intimidated me. But having lived for four hundred years, I knew when a witch was about to hurt me. And Syin, she looked almost harmless. Not to mention their numberless rules.
"Yes! There's the little witch!" I murmured straightening. "I thought you will have summoned your bodyguards hm? Or, don't you think I'm a threat to you?"
I was a threat, a huge threat. It was taking all the control in me to hold back the urge to grab and dig my fangs in her neck.
The thought of how her blood would taste in my mouth sent weird signals through my body. And the craving awoke.
Get out! My conscience yelled.
"See you around, little witch!" I said with a scornful smirk before flashing out of the apartment, stopping by the stairs to compose my thoughts.
Standing there, I picked up a rather alarming scent, a vampire's scent. It was maybe an hour old.
Could only mean one thing, someone else knew about Syin. Knew about, my target.
