No Syin! You cannot betray your friend like this? She's been there for you since you got here. She likes him. My conscience yelled, snapping me back to my normal senses.
"Stop! Stop!" I cried pulling out his hand from under my dress.
His face crunched up in confusion. Yes it was going so well, but it wasn't right...
As much as it hurt me admitting it to myself, I liked the vampire, a lot. He had given me the dominant aura and I had thought, for a split of a second, that it could work out for both of us. But no! We lived in different worlds, he was a blood race and I, a Syran. Not just any Syran, the next queen. Also, he was my housemate's boyfriend-ish.
My heart was in a tight race as I stared into Lucian's eyes. He wasn't angry at all, yet they looked different from usual.
"I'll see you later when you're done!"
With that flat notice, he blurred out of sight, leaving behind a breeze full of his cologne.
It settled as quickly as it had been generated, but not in my chest. My heart was hurting for some reason.***********
"The Bledels? That name has been lost for centuries. The last family of their generation was executed by the humans, burnt alive in their home. That was-"
"One escaped!" A feminine voice interrupted Jason...Trix.
She walked in the study room through the open door, her eyes all puffy and swollen.
Her father didn't ask anything, but he noticed she had been crying. It was almost impossible not to."That is a myth," Jason debated shutting the enormous book on the table... The Witch Family Trees. "A made-up happy ending in a children's book."
Trix threw her eyes towards me, and I felt vulnerable. "He was the adopted son. And I believe we have all, met him."
My heart stopped beating for a second, my skin turning pale to the anticipation. Met him? How could he be alive after all these years?
Looking into her black eyes, I saw anger, spite...whoever this 'Bledel' was had surely crossed Trix.
"Out with it! Stop being mysterious!" Jason roared. I could tell he was eager as I was or much more. "Who is i-"
"Lucian Thorne Bledel."
"What?" I staggered back, shocked to the core. I did not see that coming at all. The same Lucian, the same vampire I knew was...a Bledel? How old was he?
"Trix!" Her father bellowed. "If your resentment towards him makes you utter such unbelievable allegations, I will-"
"Dad!" Trix squealed taking bold steps towards us.
"I repeated the ritual countless times. I wanted to prove that the story was wrong, but I ended up tracking the last Bledel back to the man we have been interacting with for years."
"When did you come to know of this? Before or after you cast a spell on him?"
"Dad!" Her eyes were now moist. "Will you never forget about that?"
I shot my eyes at him. He seemed genuinely angry at his daughter spelling a blood race, or did he know that they slept together?
"How can I? Such relationships are forbidden. Penalty includes death you ignorant-"
"Fine!"
All along, I held my silence, listening to them argue while my head was filled with endless thoughts. Why had fate delivered him to me?
"He has the Bledel family crest ring, and a tattoo of it on his back!"
Jason looked away, hoping to ignore the fact that his daughter knew such an intimate detail because she actually slept with him...
A devouring silence spread through the entire room.
