He was not extending it to greet me.

Dan or Lucian was trying to feel the invisible barrier protecting me. The second he touched it, a bright red glow spread out from that spot before thrusting him in the air.
His reflex was fast and sharp, enabling him to spin while in the air and land on one knee for balance.

"Guess you shouldn't stick your nose, or hand, into other people's business!" I said proudly.

Lucian chuckled coldly as he pushed himself to rise. His hair was a little disorganized from the throw, yet, a silly part of me found his current appearance, cute.

"I can handle anything you have to offer me little witch!"

"Stop calling me that! I'm Syin!"

He once again chuckled, just not deathly this time. "Okay, little witch!"
It wasn't worth fighting with him. My main focus was to find that monster and, maybe get rid of it?

My eyes rolled, settling on the open window. The curtains swayed, indicating a weak breeze coming in. It blew all the way to my skin, waking the hairs all over my arms. My senses heightened...someone was out there, watching my window.

"Oh! I brought a friend, just in case your minions try anything funny," said Lucian.

I diverted my gaze to fall on him. "But...a Syran?" I could not withhold the surprise.

The male smirked slightly as he walked over to the window.  "We call your kind witches Chica. Syrans is a fancy term for high breed witches. Those who secluded themselves from the human side to avoid contaminating their bloodlines."

Huh! I hear you history teacher!

"Why are you here?" I diverted the subject. "This is not Daisy's room."

"Clearly!" Lucian mocked looking around the empty walls, void of even a single decoration. "So, how long are you staying in your little cocoon? I can wait all night if you like."

My jaw dropped. The audacity in that vampire was astonishing. He really thought he could command me like a pet?

"I don't need this-" I stated, swaying my right hand gently and the candle flame went out"-to protect me!"

"You think I'm weak?" A question floated from the man facing my direction, his back to the window a few inches behind. "I love the pride in Syrans even if I only read about your people. Remarkable people, or should I say, witches?" His tone was insulting, demeaning. And the flicker in his eyes was even more infuriating.

I wanted to inflict pain in him, make him feel like his bones were being crashed a hundred times over and over, unimaginable pain. But, I had not yet mastered that art.
My family would punish me if they found out just how many 'forbidden' spells I was teaching myself in the human world. While some incantations might have been lost in Syra, humans kept  grimoires in the library as if they were another collection to display. From those grimoires, I had taught myself how to alter the minds of other beings... I was hoping to find the one grimoire that belonged to our ancestors, stolen and hidden by a certain family called, the Bledels.
It contained ancient spells, some of which were used in diving the realm in order to keep my people safe.

"You were made from our blood!" I spat disgusted. "You're beneath us!" The spite in my voice could not be hidden.

Yes! I was still in the process of discovering myself, and I felt repulsed by the thought of humans killing my kind and stealing their blood(full violation of the physical body upon death). Human made these monsters.
The biggest irony was, they turned on them, feeding on their blood.

Yet, I still felt sorry for them.

"You little proud..." Lucian growled, his eyes coming to life in a frightening red glow.

A lump now filled my throat as I watched him take a step at a time towards me.

My feet started backing slowly...slowly till my back smothered on the cold wooden door. Teleporting out of there was the only reasonable thing to do. But, my friend would end up hurt in return.

He came up at me, his scary eyes glaring hot at me. "Is that what they lied to you in your fancy little schools in your little world?" The beast breathed down on me.

My eyelids could not meet, not even for a second. A second was a lot of time for a vampire to snap my neck like a chicken's.

"Speak!" Lucian shouted as his fist flew past my right temple. I shut my eyes to avoid the splinters that erupted as it burst through the door. "Are you dumb now?" He hissed like a snake.

Heat continued forming in the pit of my stomach...fear.
