"Why are you here? You don't belong here!" He said.

My lips parted for a second, but then shut. I had no idea what to say.

"Those shades aren't opaque you know!"

"What?" I cried feeling offended.

A deep sigh came from his side. "I know what you are. You aren't even from this side of the realm."

My heart picked a fast pace. What was he? A fortune teller?
"I can smell Syra all over you. No matter how well you may blend in with the rest of us, your kind will always have a special way of sticking out."

At the mention of Syra, I scurried off the ground, dusting my butt in such haste.
"Thank you for your, hospitality."

"Phil!"

"Thank you, Phil... I'm-"

"Redie!" He interrupted.

I took a step towards where I had last seen him, but he wasn't there, I couldn't feel his presence anymore.

In a quick press of the power button, the faded light chased away the darkness, Phil with it. He was...gone.
There wasn't a trace of him, or his blanket, or the bag, only the piece of carton I had sat on was in sight.

Hallucinations!

Reality had caught up with me, I was losing my sanity. Humanity was injecting me with its pain.

With one last gaze around the chilling corner, I spun to hurry away. My movements were interrupted by the solid warm wall I crashed into.

The second the person's hands grabbed my arms to help me stabilize, all alarms in my body went off.
I quickly jumped aside, yanking myself off of the figure blocking my path.
As my eyes gazed past the silhouetted frame, I noticed that there was nobody there. The alley was completely empty, all the people that had been there were gone, just like Phil.

It's then it hit me...an illusion.

It was all one well stuck mind game laid out to either make people comfortable or, trap them.
Judging from how my danger sensors were pulsing, I'd say the latter.

"Four days!" A deep voice roared. It sounded like Phil. Meaning that whoever the male was, he was behind the illusion.
"I've searched for you for four fucking days!"

I backed, feeling the fear drip from every pore on my body. This fear was like nothing I had felt before. It made my blood freeze without even knowing what was instilling it.

"Looks like fate delivered you at my doorstep." The voice spoke, adding a low victorious cackle.

It was at that moment, I regretted compelling my guardians away. Now who would protect me from whatever the male was?

"She smells nice!" A feminine hiss came from behind the male. Drawing my eyes to the female walking towards us in low boots, hard to tell the color while standing in the dark. A deep growl came from the woman as she halted next to the male. "I'll take the first bite on this one."

Those words made me want to lash out at her. But I was probably not that fast enough for a vampire. I had heard they possessed such powerful reflexes.

"Not tonight!" The male stated in a superior tone, suggesting his decision was final.

"But Lucian, her blood is screaming for me to drain it from her bo-"

"Enough!" The Lucian man roared making a sharp turn to face the female(that would have had his neck snap if he was human). But he wasn't...good for him.
Bad for me though!

They faced each other, probably glaring the life out of the other. So it was true, they could also see in the darkness. What kind of monsters did humans make?

As they were entangled in their 'fight', I pressed my back against the wall, shut my eyes while muttering the teleportation spell. "An entrance between time and places I seek. A Syran's life at risk of death."
As soon as the incantation was over, I felt a tug from the front as my body was tossed through the threshold. I had less than a second to decide where I would go, which was obviously the apartment. With no scent to trace, those vampires would take time to find me. And by then, I would be ready.

I gasped as soon as I appeared in my bathroom. No matter how many times one teleported, it still had me breathless each time.

It took me two minutes to compose myself.

"You made it!" I breathed at my reflection on the square mirror on the wall. My red hair was a mess, but at least it was still intact.
I was safe. Damn it felt so refreshing.
