Chapter 14. Death do us part

"Soo...princess, you gonna wear the cloak or what...? I mean it is quite dangerous in a town like this."
"No. I think I can blend in just fine, thank you very much-"
"Whatever, just take Karsyn's cloak, it's pretty dangerous for princesses like you to be mingling around here."
"No! It's fine, they won't notice me."
"Suit yourself then."
The princess was correct, nobody came up to her. Nobody even approached her, it was like she was absolutely normal. They were soon very close to Arden's house and Séraphine ran to his house as fast as possible, wanting to see Demetrius.
Demetrius was sitting on the bedside, her head was down. It was as if she was missing Atticus and Idyllic.
"Demetrius?"
She glared up at Séraphine, "A-Auntie S...éra?"
"Yes?"
"I missed you!"
"I missed you more, my raven."
They hugged each other, almost about to cry, until Karsyn brought up a topic about his grimoire.
"Hey...well, I think we should ask-"
"Do that after, we need all need to have a shower."
"Oh yeah!"
"YEAH GO HAVE A SHOWER EUPHORIA YOU SMELLY SHIT!!!" Lorenzo shouted from the kitchen.
Karsyn ran to the shower and locked the door, with his grimoire.

"Wanderer...so, after all of that rubbish, what do I do next?"

"Wanderer Karsyn. What I asked you to do IS NOT RUBBISH! But well, now that you have my necklace, you need to go to Romero's palace for the next artefact, and that's it for today. Tomorrow, I will give you something different."

"Romero's palace...? NO! I said I'm not going back there. No. I can't go..."

"You have to. This artefact means a lot to the princess, if you want to make a great impression towards her, then you need to get this artefact."

"Means a lot to the princess, huh? What would mean a lot to the princess-"

The book went straight to the artefact list and Karsyn stared at it with wide eyes, "...Princess Séraphine's crown."
"...But why, just for a crown, I have to go to Romero's palace...?"
He sighed and just decided to go with what Wanderer said.

"So, now that you guys don't smell like sh-"
"I'm not listening. ALMOST EVERY FUCKING THING TO YOU IS NEGATIVE!"
"Hey, calm down, Euph...blood pressure might be high, huh?"
Euphoria wanted to laugh, but he couldn't because he was still annoyed with Alphonse, "I don't care, Atticus."
"Maybe you should listen to him, you guys should just leave each other alone, because no matter what you say, you'll end up getting more and more angry at each other."
"Whatever, lamppost. Maybe stop fucking-"
"What was that, peanut? I can't hear you from all the way down below." 
Karsyn condescended, laughing at him.
"Fuck you."
"Fuck you too."
Euphoria stuttered while hiding his face in his hands, he rolled his eyes, and continued to argue with Alphonse:
"Well listen up you bitch. I think personally that they are right and we should make up."
"At last."
"Shut up."
Alphonse patted him on the back, "I forgive you, always."
Euphoria's eyes enlarged once he said that, he was shocked, he couldn't believe Alphonse had just said that to him, but it was only the 'always' word that got him ecstatic. Séraphine paused her conversation with Demetrius, only to hear 'Shut up' from Euphoria.
"Euphoria, sweetheart. Don't be so negative towards your friends like that! Remember what I taught you-"
"Being rude to people doesn't make you go up in life, does it?" Karsyn and Séraphine said at the same time.
"Exactly."
"Mom...seriously, you have to embarrass me like that...AND YOU TOO LAMPPOST!"
"Oh sweetie, we're not embarrassing you, we're telling you the truth!"
"Whatever, I guess you're correct in some way."
"Some way? Dear, don't be like that."
Karsyn wanted to ruin the moment, but he also didn't want to interrupt Euphoria's mother.
"Uh...hey, uh...we have our next artefact to get."
He gulped.
"Inside...of Romero's palace."
"WHAT?!"
"Yeah-"
"AFTER YOU ALMOST GOT FUCKING KILLED THERE, WE'RE GOING BACK?"
"Mhm."
"Well, if we get into trouble, it's your fault."
"No. Blame Wander-"
"NO! It's your fault that you have this stupid book!"
"It's not my fault."
"Whatever, let's just go, it's not far from here anyways." Arden replied, rubbing his eyelid.
Karsyn tucked the Wanderer's necklace inside of shirt, Euphoria had his healing necklace outside of his shirt.
"Tuck it in, peanut."
Karsyn put his hands around Euphoria and tucked in his necklace. After that, Euphoria was speechless. Not even a response came out of his mouth. The town was unusually quiet, not many people were there, either because it was the evening or something was going on.
"This place makes me sick, only because I haven't been here in a while."
"Yeah, same."
"Mom."
"Not now, Euphoria. Let me finish my conversation with your cousin."
"Fine..."
Karsyn grabbed his shoulder, "You act like a baby sometimes."
"I don't!"
"You do."
"Maybe I do..."
"I was joking, you don't act like a baby...parents sometimes, y'know how they are?"
"Mhm."
 "Cheer up, she said she'll talk to you after!"
"Here we are, Romero's palace." Arden stated, pointing at the palace and taking in the fresh evening breeze.
"Idyllic, come with me. While the others go and look for the next artefact, I will be showing you something."
"O-Okay!"
Kioki's palms began to sweat, but then she opened the palace doors as quietly as possible and they all crept in. Princess Séraphine took Idyllic's hand and they all went off, leaving them.
"Let's go to the library...it's just down here! But wait...what even is the artefact?"
"Princess Séraphine's crown."
"Ooh!"
"Whatever, what Kioki said, let's go to the library. So we could find a book or something about her crown...that's just really stupid, a book about a crown? Or who knows, we might even find it laying around."
 "Sure...???"
Karsyn treated the library as if it was heaven. He loves reading, he loves books. Euphoria didn't quite understand why his grin was so wide, but he just smiled with him. Atticus was trying to find the crown with the rest and Euphoria and Karsyn were chasing each other through the shelves of books.
"I'm tired...heh."
"Aw, lamppost ran out of energy, already?"
"Whatever...peanut."
Euphoria couldn't control his feelings towards Karsyn any longer, so he gave it a shot.
"Hey...Karsyn."
"What do you want, peanut?"
"You."
Karsyn held his breath, "What...?"
"I need you...I'm in love with you, Karsyn."
There was a long period of silence. Karsyn stared at him in the eyes, "What?"
"I said I love you-"
"I-I know what you said, just look if-"
"If this is another one of your stupid teases, it's not...I'm not-"
"This is anything but a tease, Karsyn."
 "You've never been a joke to me, Karsyn...I was such a blind fool to regard you as...only a friend."
"I didn't even consider that such words might only end up hurting you...I'm ever so sorry, Karsyn."
"But believe me when I say that my feelings towards you are very extreme-"
"Wait, wait, wait. Hold on...do you...I don't even think you even know what you're saying right now-"
"Of course I do-"
"Bull. Shit."
"You're a sad little short peanut who wouldn't even KNOW the first thing about being in love. You expect me to believe you understand whatever feelings just happen to cross after years of experiencing no love at all?"
"To be completely honest, no..."
Euphoria took his hand, "I don't understand these feelings." 
"...Because I've never felt them before..."
"Then how do you know that it's love?"
"I-"
"You don't. You're just confused."
"I'm not! I'm being serious, I love you-"
"No, you just love the way I-"
"Karsyn, I love you, all of you."
"Not just your voice, your character, personality...I love your smile."

[Flashback]

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! MAYBE IF WE DIDN'T DO THIS STUPID MISSION, WE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN STRANDED AWAY FROM OUR PARENTS."
"I hate you, don't ever talk to me again."
"I'm going to find my way out of here, AND LEAVE YOU!"
