Atticus woke up. He rubbed his eyes, feeling the warm sunshine on his face. He tried not to wake up anybody, but as he was crawling towards Euphoria, he woke up.
"Good morning."
"Morning, Euphoria."
"Sooo...did you hear any other noises throughout the night?"
"No. I was fast asleep with Karsyn."
"Awh."
"Whatever, maybe you should leave him to sleep. We should go and take a walk around here."
"Alright."
Euphoria helped him up and they walked around the pasture of the long, green grass, taking in the warm breeze. Euphoria turned to him and asked him, "So, Atticus...do you know anything about your mother, Demetrius?"
"Duh. She's my mother, but I mean I get why you're asking...since she hasn't been in my life for long."
"Well..??"
"My mom loved her children, she also loved her father's sister, Princess Eunisia."
"I know something about her."
"What do you know?"
"She's dead."
"Hah! No...her? Dead?"
"Wait what-"
"She's not dead, we just...don't know where she is."
"Ah. Well, I'm not really sure, I'm just basing this on opinions that I've heard."
"Well that's not true. It can never be true."
"Mmm, okay."
"How about you...? Do you know anything actually interesting about your mother?"
"Well I do know something, but I'm not sure if it's about her."
"Go on then."
"Well, you know Karsyn right?"
"Mhm."
"Well...when we were little, Karsyn's dad used to invite him over to the palace. And that's where we would have play-dates."
"Wait, Karsyn's dad knew the Princess?"
"Yeah...Karsyn's dad is a soldier, working with her."
"That's cute."
"Yeah...but now that he's grown up, it's like he's become more and more stubborn, and witty."
"Or maybe you're just the witty one here."
"What?"
"You think I didn't hear what you said when we first met?"
"What did I say-"
"Atticus? I bet he's another idiot just like Spencer!" Atticus mimicked him in a high pitch voice.
"I was joking."
"You're always joking."
"Wha-"
"You're always joking, you don't even realise it's affecting others."
"I do apologise after-"
Atticus nodded slowly, "Uh-huh...sure you do..."
"Maybe we should start heading back, I don't want to leave the rest in danger-"
"Booyah! Great idea." Atticus said, clicking his fingers.
Atticus took one last breath of the warm, sunshine filled air and returned back to the spot where they were sleeping. Nobody was awake, but they didn't want to pester them so that they would feel tired later on and they wouldn't be able to find the Princess. Almost instantaneously, there was another gunshot, and Karsyn woke up, heavy breathing. Atticus and Euphoria looked at each other sternly. They knew something was wrong.
"What...What the fuck was THAT?!"
"We don't know. While you were asleep, Atticus and I heard a gunshot, the exact same one."
"Maybe we should get out of here as soon as possible!"
"Yeah, but what about the res-"
"WAKE UP! GOSH DARN IT!" Karsyn shouted in an American accent, as funnily as possible.
Everybody else woke up, Adora snapped, "What the hell?"
"It's so cold, even in August?" Amalfi said to herself.
Adora looked at her with a disappointed look on her face, "Just because it's August doesn't mean it's always hot, Amalfi."
"Yeah...but-"
Clairé joined in the conversation whilst only waking up, "You guys should all shut up! We're all tired here, you know."
"Well we've been up before you, so stop being so grumpy!"
"Whatever, Euphoria. You always get up early."
"Eh-"
"JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO KARSYN!"
"Thanks Atticus...anyways, as I was saying I think we have to leave this place."
"Wait, why?"
"We've been hearing weird noises." Atticus and Euphoria explained in a concerned voice.
"What noises?"
"Gunshots."
"Well that concludes it, let's go-" Amalfi responded, nervously.
"Yep." Kioki replied, running off with her.
The rest followed along, Atticus made sure he had the scroll on him and he did, thankfully. He opened it and looked at the map and spoke to Karsyn.
"Maybe you should try checking your book again."
Karsyn opened the book, but there was no luck, the pages were still empty.
"...Shoot, agh, I guess we just have to use this map then."
"Or maybe we can use you!"
"What do you mean 'use me' Idyllic?"
"You've been here for a long time right?"
"Yes, but not as long as you think."
"That's fine! You must know the perfect places where someone would run away to...you get what I'm saying?"
"Yeah, but-"
"Like...over here!" Idyllic eeked, pointing to a large town.
"Seriously? Are you being fucking serious? What makes you think that my mo- Whatever, I mean Princess Séraphine could be there?"
"I don't know, Euphoria! Maybe because it's big and crowded and you can hide easily around here!"
"Fine, we'll try there, but if she's not there then we'll look somewhere else? Deal?" Atticus suggested.
"Fine."
The large town's name was written in Greek, they couldn't understand, only for one person. Atticus.
"Atticus, what is the name of this place?"
He looked at the big town's name and looked back at Artemis who was asking the question, "Η πόλη χωρίς όνομα is the name. It means...'The Town Without a Name'."
"The hell?"
"But it has a nam-"
"That's not the point."
"But if that's the name of the town, then it has a name."
"The reason why they named it that is because this town is filled with demons, and fools mostly. I'm pretty sure they named it this because they're a bunch of idiots who want to trick us. But whatever you do, do not approach any of the demons. If they speak to you, just nod."
They all nodded and headed towards the town. On the way, they saw Spencer, who was stitching a piece of cloth.
"Oh my god, not this idiot again..."
"Shh, Euphoria."
"Oh there you guys are! I had a feeling you would be around here!"
Euphoria groaned in annoyance, "What do you want now...?"
"I just came here to give you all these."
He handed out long cloaks, they were embroidered and stitched with colourful designs and patterns.
"Listen to my instructions carefully."
Euphoria nodded jokingly, and pretended he was stupid with his continuous nodding.
Karsyn budged him, "Cut it out."
"These are your cloaks for when you enter the town. I forgot to hand them to you at the start, so forgive me. These cloaks are embroidered with colours because it distracts the demons. They've never seen humans and weird species like you before so this is for your protection. Before you put your cloaks on though, you have to tie your hair in a low bun, but this doesn't apply for Atticus, but it does for you, little one." he said, pointing at Idyllic.
Atticus rolled his eyes, "She's not a little one, she's my sister-"
"Κατάλαβες τι εννοούσα, βλάκας." (You get what I meant, moron.)
"Whatever, well anyways, thanks...now BYE!"
They all did as Spencer had asked, and they entered inside the town. It was packed with millions of demons.
"Just keep quiet, and stay low." Atticus whispered to the group.
Atticus took out a hand fan from his pocket and covered his face with it. So many people were staring at him and the group, but he ignored it. Atticus grabbed Idyllic by her hand and said, "Stay close to me, idiot. If you're not careful, they could snatch you from behind."
"They can't."
"Who knows? Just stay close to me..."
In the blink of an eye, Atticus heard someone from behind getting strangled, he cocked his head and saw that Karsyn was getting strangled by a demon. The demon was aiming for his book, more than his body. Atticus whistled, his whistle was the exact same tune as Euphoria's whistle when he saw Karsyn, but this whistle wasn't just any old whistle. He was calling someone.
Suddenly, a demon with black hair and sunny yellow eyes who was lurking from behind the trees, came rushing towards the demon and pushed him away, just in time so that Karsyn could run off.
"Thanks, Arden."
"It's no biggie, Atticus." the demon said, patting Atticus on the back.
"What are you even doing here, with these people?"
"Listen, keep your voice down as I say this. We're finding Princess Séraphine."
"Around here? Oh, no, no, no. I don't think you should even be here if you're looking for her."
"What do you mean?"
"She could be anywhere, but here...nuh-uh. Here is a no-go."
"Ah-"
"Especially with little girls like that one."
Idyllic slapped herself across the face, "Oh my fucking gos-"
"She's my sister, Arden."
"Oh, my bad. Well either way, humans shouldn't be around this place.
"I know somewhere where you can go though..."
"WHERE?!" the group said, pouncing for answers.
"It's just a bit further up the town."
"So then let's go!"
Arden budged the demons who were swarming around the markets, he pushed and nudged them to get out of the way, not to mention that he was taller than most of them around so that made it easier for them to move.
"Pssst, Idyllic. See this is why we don't listen to you."
"Shut up Karsyn! You sound exactly like Euphoria."
Euphoria and Karsyn laughed at Idyllic, who was also laughing a bit. Soon, the crowd of demons were slowly disappearing and soon, they saw a lovely fountain that flowed with water, but behind the fountain, was a mansion...or even better, a palace.
"Who owns this place?" Karsyn asked, curious.
"It's King Romero's."
"Wait, what?"
Karsyn paused, he didn't move, he was frozen in shock.
"Why is he here...?"
"This is the present you dummy! Everyone is here!"
"We're going to go inside, but if you catch sight of Romero, do not speak to him."
Karsyn was actually quite curious about Romero, did he look different? Speak different? Do things differently?
He put all of the questions aside and thought it would be better to see for himself. Arden opened the door and they headed inside of this huge palace. Atticus span around with every step he took, he was fascinated by the huge palace, the huge walls, the design, everything.
"Come, let's go in here Karsyn!" Euphoria said.
Karsyn followed him, and Atticus, who was holding Idyllic also came.
The room was dark, it had lots of mirrors and windows. Euphoria shut the door behind him and suddenly, the lights turned off. It was all pitch black. The door opened, but there was no light. They heard screams from the distance, muffled screams:
"KARSYN, ATTICUS WHOEVER IS WITH YOU, GET OUT OF THERE RIGHT NOW!"
Soon, there was an evil laughter. Romero's laughter. The lights now turned red, and Karsyn turned around to leave but behind him who was standing in the mirror, looking at his own reflection, was the King, Romero. He was tall, his hair was long, his crown was much different to before and his cloak was weirdly longer.
"We meet again, Karsyn."
"Who the hell-"
"King...ROMERO?!"
Romero looked down at Karsyn, with his red beady eyes and he smiled. From that moment onwards, Karsyn knew he was a masochist...of some sort.
"Surprise. And I see you brought some others with you."
Romero stared at Karsyn in the eyes, he was petrified, his eyes were wide open. Karsyn couldn't speak, he was so scared that he couldn't even move, he still had his cloak on but he was tugging on it, in fear.
"You can't hide from me...and you already know that."
"Mmm..."
Karsyn couldn't even say anything, Euphoria snapped at him, "AYO YOU! DON'T FUCKING TALK TO HIM LIKE THAT!"
"And you...what are you going to do about it?"
"I can't do anything-"
"Exactly, so be quiet."
"Jeez, sassy much..." Idyllic said to herself.
"How did you even get here in the first place?"
"I..."
"DON'T TELL HIM! KARSYN DO. NOT. TELL. HIM!" someone shouted from the closed door.
"You're worthless, you know that...you'll never mount to anything in life, even if you try...you'll just be a worthless little human."
"S-Shut up!"
"Awh, you are so cute when you are serious!" Romero jokingly laughed.
"You seriously think you can escape my wrath~? Too bad. You can't!"
Karsyn felt a chill in his bones, he finally had the courage to yell at Romero, "I...I HATE YOU! YOU RUINED MY LIFE! YOU RUINED EVERYONE'S LIFE!"
Karsyn broke down into tears and Romero's voice repeated and repeated in his head. Euphoria ran up to him and comforted him, but that didn't work either way.
Atticus finally saw the perfect moment to climb onto Romero's back and get his crown. And that's exactly what he did. He snatched the crown off of Romero's head, but underneath that crown, he saw that Romero had horns. Little horns that peaked through his hair.
"HEY YOU! GIVE IT BACK!"
"Okay then, only if you catch me." Atticus declared in a monotone, mocking Romero.
Atticus bursted the door open and they ran out of the room, Atticus threw the crown to Arden who was standing at the bottom of the stairs that surrounded some other room. Everyone was changing directions until finally, they decided to run out of the palace, but before they left, Adora was the last person with the crown in her hands. Horrified, she threw it on the ground and ran out, shutting the palace doors behind her.
