"she's told you the story already sir, do you truly want her to relive it again?" benedict was getting angry with the man that was investigating everything.

"there are gaps in her tale m' lord. i will not rest till justice is served."

many had rested, mainly children who did not know what had been going on. they did not even awake at the screams. i had not even closed my eyes for more than 5 minutes. i felt that the minute i did, i would be asleep.

i didn't blame anyone for questioning everything. a powerful man at court died and i was the only one there. "i don't know what else to tell you. we were having a conversation about business. he began to cough and i was worried i stood up to check on him. that's when i saw the foam." there was obviously more details to it. but that was the little bits to it.

"we shall resume this when you are feeling better lady katherine." nobody called me by my last name now, it was too long is what i heard. katherine howard-bridgerton. i needed the power and riches from my prior family, then it would be improper to not take my husbands last name.

benedict walked me back to our rooms. he held the outer coat he had put on me when he rushed into the room the night prior.

i felt disgusting.

as everyone's eyes peered onto me, how could i not?

benedict had the most questions of them all. i knew he didn't mean to. any sensible person would be asking questions, so it's not like i could have avoided it.

"katherine i'm just worried. you've been hiding things from me ever since we got here."

"i didn't kill him. if i had i would've told you."

"then who did?! it's not natural for someone to just die?"

anne walked in, of course at the worst time. "excuse me, am i interrupting something?" she asked.

"yes anne, yes you are." it was true. i don't know what she wanted to hear except for it.

something seemed off about her. i couldn't tell what it was. somehow we're always together when i'm with benedict. like she doesn't want me to say something, or second-guess anything we have been doing.

i was just thinking about it all too much.
