Chapter 12

Felix woke up. He was back in the room underneath the Natural History Museum. Buddy was next to him who woke up soon after him.

"Is it over?" Buddy asked.

"It sure is." Felix replied.

"You've been gone all day, what happened?" Aaron asked.

"Would you believe me if I said that I went back in time and kind of changed history?" Buddy asked.

"Not at all. Speaking of the past, you look very similar to a guy I saw when I was on a tour 2 years ago in Wakefield." Aaron said.

"That was actually me." Buddy said.

"It was? I swear you didn't join until a few days afterwards?" Aaron said. He suddenly realised. "You time travelled?"

"Yeah." Buddy said. "Before I forget, do you remember Rex? He came to that party a little while ago."

"No, not really." Aaron replied. "Was he a friend of yours?"

"Yes he was." Buddy said.

"How come you never told me about him?" Aaron asked. "You haven't mentioned anyone called Rex since we met."

"Really?" Buddy asked, his heart dropped. There was a knock at the door. Buddy answered it and saw James there.

"You've been gone all day, do you want to tell me what happened?" He asked.

"it's fine, I just got caught up in something else." Buddy replied.

"Oh, alright. May I come in?" James asked.

"Sure." Buddy replied. He sat down next to Aaron.

"Do you remember a guy called Rex?" Buddy asked.

"I don't think I've heard of him since my tour in Wakefield a few years ago. The same day you joined, you said you were lost didn't you?" James said.

"Oh yeah, that's what you said." Aaron said.

"What about before that day?" Buddy asked.

"Wilkins told me about him almost every day for about a week before the visit. Then he just.. stopped." James replied. "Why do you ask?"

"It doesn't matter." Buddy replied.

"I remember now." James said. "Wilkins told me that he was captured and the person who captured him was a horrible man and tortured him and eventually karma came to him and his facility exploded, killing everyone inside."

"Rex died?" Buddy asked.

"Yes, I think so." James replied. "I'm sorry."

"It's ok." Buddy said.

"Did everything go alright with James? You look quite sad." Felix asked.

"You were wrong. Rex died when the facility exploded." Buddy replied.

"When we self-destructed Flint's place?" Felix asked.

"I suppose so." Buddy replied.

"Did Flint die?" Felix asked.

"James said that everyone inside died." Buddy replied.

"Wait, if he died then there would be no machine then Rex wouldn't have died. If everything is remaining the same, Flint must still be alive." Felix said. 

"Well, at least we fixed history to some extent." Buddy said.

"Yeah." Felix said.
