Chapter 13

The next morning, the pair decided to go somewhere fancy for lunch as they had been through a lot over the past few days.

"I still can't believe Rex died." Buddy said, poking at his food like it was still alive.

"It makes you wonder what actually happened. Did we get captured? Is that how Rex died? Did Ben get angry and turn bad because of Ozzie's mishap?" Felix said, taking a bite out of his spaghetti.

"I really don't want to know. If there was one thing that I would do it's that I would go back and stop it all." Buddy said, still poking his food.

"That would be impossible. If we killed Flint then we would have no reason to return then he would still live and we wouldn't be able to fix it." Felix said.

"But the thing is if we went back using Flint's machine, killed Flint then went back using our own machine then Flint's machine would not exist, therefore we wouldn't be able to go back in time in the first place and everything would be fixed." Buddy said.

"You know, that could work." Felix said. "But how would we get our other selves back?"

"That doesn't matter if the original machine was destroyed our other selves wouldn't be there." Buddy said.

"That's right." Felix said. "Shall we?"

"We shall." Buddy said.

The pair rushed out of the restaurant and towards the machine. When they arrived they inputted the date and pressed the button.

They arrived back in 2020 Wakefield. They went to the place where they built their machine. 

"I've come to capture you." Flint said in the distance.

"We're at the right time." Buddy whispered.

"6 Hours." Past Buddy said.

"5 and a Half." Flint bargained.

"None. I want them now." One of the bodyguards growled.

"I told you, I wanted to have fun." Flint hissed to his bodyguard.

"How about when the first lightning bolt strikes." Past Buddy suggested.

"What lightning bolt?" Flint asked. Suddenly, rain started to fall onto the trees, then the ground below them. A huge shock of lightning darted across the sky in the distance.

"That lightning." Past Buddy said.

"How could you know?" Flint asked.

"I'm a time traveller." Past Buddy said with pride as he rushed inside the building. Flint started pacing up and down the hill.

"Go get them." He said to his bodyguards. They raced into the building. A few moments later, they came back out holding a sheet of paper.

"Now's our chance." Buddy said. They went down to the corner shop and waited. After a few minutes, Flint arrived at the shop and smashed the door open. He immediately saw the pair sat there waiting for him.

"How could you-" Flint began.

"Again, time travellers."  Buddy said.

"Get them." Flint said, gritting his teeth. The pair frantically dodged them. Buddy grabbed a broom and smacked one of them over the head with it. He passed it to Felix who did the same thing.

"This is your last chance to give up." Buddy said, holding one of the bodyguards' guns.

"If you shoot me, you won't be able to stop me because of my machine." Flint said.

"That's the idea." Buddy said, pulling the trigger. Flint collapsed on the floor. Suddenly the world started warping and going fuzzy. Thing started collapsing and rebuilding around them. Rebuilding into the shape of a dark room. When it finished warping, they noticed that they were back in London. They quickly went back to the HQ and back to their flat.

Buddy grabbed his phone and dialled Aaron.

"Hello?" Aaron said as he picked up.

"Have you heard from Rex?" Buddy asked hastily.

"Rex? Not since the party." Aaron said.

"Alright." Buddy said excitedly, hanging up. "He's alive!"

The phone in the hallway rang. Felix answered it.

"Hello?" he said. "Yes he's here." "It's for you." He said, giving the phone to Buddy.

"Are you alright?" Rex asked.

"I'm fine, just a little paranoid." Buddy said.

"Alright." Rex replied, putting the phone down.

"We fixed time." Felix said.
