She couldn't sleep all night, and now she was walking from one end of the apartment to the other, like a headless hen. Trying to check, for the last time, if she had forgotten something, if the windows were closed, the lights turned off, if she hasn't forgotten to unplug something.

When she heard the knock on the door, her agitation seemed to increase even more. She knew who was on the other side of the door so she immediately went to open it.

It didn't take Andy more than a couple of seconds to figure out what was going on with her best friend.

"Your face tells me you haven't slept all night and now you're spinning like a headless hen around the apartment. Am I right?" She asked ironically and closed the door behind her.

"I'm nervous, what do you want me to do? It's not like I'm leaving on vacation."

Andy gently took her by the hand and led her to the kitchen.

"Sit down, smoke a cigarette, have a cup of coffee and calm down. I'm going to check if you have your passport and plane ticket on hand. When I return, I want to find you relaxed. "

"Sir! Yes, sir!" Diana joked about her friend's attitude.

When Andy returned to the kitchen, Diana was a little calmer. Her best friend's presence had this effect on Diana whenever she was nervous and agitated.

"Everything will be fine. I'll be living here, as we discussed, and we will talk as often as possible. I know that any new beginning is nerve wracking, but I know for sure that you are a strong and smart woman who will handle any situation. The only thing you need to remember is not to panic. Otherwise, you'll handle everything. " Andy tried to encourage and de-stress Diana because, by the way her face looked now, she had little left to explod or faint. She wasn't quite sure which of the reactions would win, but she didn't want any of them to happen.

"By the way, is your boss still coming with you?"

"Yes. She'll stay with me for two weeks, until we get things organized. I don't even know why the company chose me to do this. She has more experience and is much more calculated than I am."

"Hey," Andy interrupted, "if you think like that again, I'll kick your ass so hard that you'll end up in America without a plane. Come on now. Move your ass! The chariot awaits you."

Diana smiled, took her luggage and followed her friend to the car that was parked in front of her apartment building.

At the airport, her nerves were stretched to the limit, and the only thing she could do was hug her friend tightly as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Andy had a lump in her throat, too, but she didn't want to feed Diana's waterfall. She had to be the one to cheer her up and stop her tears so they wouldn't end up like two wailing crones in the middle of the airport. So, she swallowed the lump in her throat, hurled a 'Good Luck!' to Diana and pushed her to the embarking section.

As soon as she reached her car at the airport's parking lot, Andy's tears fell too. She wasn't crying because she was sorry for her friend's departure. She was happy for her success and for the wonderful life abroad that is definitely waiting for her. She was crying because, since they had both graduated from college and she had returned to Romania, they were inseparable. She was sure of the fact that they were two steps away from each other and could see each other at any time. There were her little getaways, running around the world in who knows what exotic corners to discover new places, cultures and people, but these were scheduled getaways, of which she knew exactly when she would return from. Even when she was in college in the UK, she knew exactly when she would return.
