"Can you tell me what just happened there?" Jisoo asked after Jennie left the room.
"There's nothing to explain." Lisa leaned back in her leather chair.
"I don't believe it. You have always been tough. But despite your reputation as a tough businesswoman, you have never been rude to anyone." And she meant it. Her friend had always been courteous even if she was talking to the president of another company or their janitor. That's why the people who work with her love her so much.
She picked up a document on the table. "And you think that I was rude to her?"
"Ah-" Jisoo mouth opened to speak but she cut off whatever she had to say.
""There are things that shouldn't be talked about anymore, but I feel that you will also know the story of Ms. Kim and I in one way or another. I'll just tell you. I almost married her."
Jisoo hesitated. Whatever she expected to be the reason for the boss's action, it wasn't what she said she was expected." I beg your pardon?"
"I know you've heard it so I won't repeat it again."
"What happened?"
She lowered the document to look at the person she was talking to. "Nothing happened. She left on our wedding day."
"But why?" Jisoo asked in shocked.
The expression on her face didn't change, but she could hear the suppressed anger in her voice. "Because I made mistakes of knowing her. She turned out to be nothing but a spoiled brat and a coward. That's all you need to know about her."
That's not enough reason for the operation manager. "Lisa.."
"That's all." She dismissed.
Jisoo left and room and Lisa was left alone im the quiet room. Earlier, the room seemed to be vibrating with noises. But now it suddenly became silent. Jennie still has the same effect. The place quiets down when it vacates. Not that it really lost it's sound. She would vacate a room and it was as if she brought something vital there when she left.
Unbidden memories came to her mind. She remembered when she first saw the woman.
She was leaving Jeon Jung-kook's party when she realized that she took of her jacket and left it where she was talking to the birthday celebrant earlier. Her plan for agreeing to attend the celebration was that she would only stay for a couple of hours. Because she wants to go to Jeju Island to dive and she has to catch the first ferry boat trip to get there from Mokpo Station. But after what happened to Jungkook, she decided to leave earlier. Not because she was avoiding him, but the idea that the man who is considered the best friend of her younger brother and is always a guest at her family's house has such feelings for her is too new to her.
Earlier, she told Jungkook her real reaction, but she gave him assurance that their friendship will not be destroyed by his confession.
She didn't expect that there was someone in the gazebo when she went back there to get her jacket that she left. And she didn't expect it to be that beautiful. Jennie's hair was a bit messy and her face was red, maybe because of the drunkenness, but she was still beautiful. She wasn't that white but her skin was glowing with health. She first thought who it was and why she was alone. She came to the wrong conclusion that the woman was probably one of the pick-up girls who had been paid to make the occasion colorful.
It's true, everything looks expensive to the woman. Even the smell of her perfume that mixes with the smell of alcohol smells expensive. But then, she also thought that there are many really high maintenance pick-up girls. They are the ones they spend money on, buy them cars, put them in a condo. No doubt, whoever was paying for her clothes must be very rich. Anyway, she was probably worth it.
