Sydney Chase shuffled into the school, head down, and prepared to go to AP English class, when a strong gust of freezing air hit her. Stupid school just can't fix the AC? Sydney thought angry with the school. She hurried to her locker and opened it grabbing out her coat, knowing the hoodie would still let the cool air through. Sydney put on her coat and shut her locker quickly, turning and hit a strong surface, but still knocked it down, along with herself. The other person instantly hopped back up and Sydney apologized.

"Sorry. I'm so sorry!" Sydney said as she looked up to see who she ran into, and it was none other than Grey Carmichael. "I wasn't watching where I was going," she continued to ramble on her apologies until she stopped when she noticed him staring at her. Grey was smiling at her.

He chuckled lightly. "It's okay. Sydney, right? Sit to your left in AP English," Grey said nonchalantly picking up her notebook and handing it to her. He stuck his hand out for her to grab.

Sydney noticed that her face warmed up, and she blushed. Being noticed by Grey surprised Sydney. She always kept to herself, not trying to be noticed. She hesitated before grabbing Grey's hand and he easily pulled her up. "Right. You sit on my right. The wall is sitting on my left," Sydney quietly corrected.

Grey smiled at her, "Well, you sit on my left," he said it normally, like a friend talking to a friend. He didn't sound stuck up like the words would've sounded from anyone else. "Want to walk to first block with me?"

Sydney blushed even harder and looked at the ground. "S-S-Sure," she stammered.

They walked down the hall in silence at first before Grey shivered, "God, why can't they fix the AC?"

Sydney chuckled quietly, "Need a jacket?"

Grey nodded "Let's head down to my locker." Grey didn't order it, he sounded like he liked Sydney's company even though she rarely talked. Sydney followed him to one out of the hundreds of blue lockers. Grey stepped in front of a locker and before he spun the dial to open it, he glanced back to Sydney. "Don't look," he teased. Sydney crossed her arm and turned around. She might have looked annoyed, but she held a small grin inside. After a few seconds he tapped her shoulder, and they went back to walking down to Mrs. Dillon's AP English class.

They chatted about how the school could fund to fix it; the school just kept on putting it off. The day eased by and it turned out the two had many classes together, they never spoke. As Sydney left the school and walked to her car she had a big smile on her face. It wasn't because she spent the whole day talking to an attractive, popular boy, but she had gone through most of her day without embarrassing herself.

Sydney went to her job at Sonic over in Poolesville, the town east of Falcon Bay. Her job went even better, not getting yelled at once for clumsiness or an incident. She walked out to the car thirty minutes later than usual because she was talking with a coworker outside.

Sydney drove home to a small apartment building on top of an art studio that barely got any customers anymore. Sydney unlocked the glass door and walked to the back of the store before taking the metal spiral staircase with gorgeous photographs on it. At the top of the staircase was a long, slim hallway with three doors and two open arches. The doors at the further end of the hallway were dark, along with the trim outlining the arches. The walls were a light crème color and had bright colorful paintings by Sydney's mom, Kathy. A dark wooden trim lined the top of the wall, where the wall met the ceiling. The floor was carpet with a crème color to it also, but it had sprinkles of bright colors, like the colors used in the paintings. The ceiling matched the main crème color and had three chandeliers, all with a black metal frame work.
